not a good album!
facts:
overproduced
week songs except EIOTR (could still be done much better) / DOYAM / IIHAG / BA
too much choirs/strings
extremly bad drumming
not one solo you can call a solo
pussy version of stop the clocks -- > last minute is just horrible
voice is good but way too much processed
really disappointed!
by the way: simple mind of genius is the best song ( what I've heard so far)

It is over produced in certain places, Noel's voice is a bit over processed on songs like EOTR, STC and RM and the choirs and strings could be toned down a bit.
Aside from that it is an absolutely brilliant album. Of course this is not a 'fact' or 'truth'; just my humble opinion.

Markus does have valid points though. The album has many flaws including cringe worthy lyrics that I'm sure most will defend on this forum. Its an average album

I guarantee you that if there were internet music forums in the fall of 1995, 25-50 percent of all Oasis fans would be talking about how shit Morning Glory was.
I find it humorous that so many folks want to shout down this album after two days. Makes me think that they wanted to hate it. I also find it humorous that all of these posters who hate the album seem to mention the fact that the album is shit except for the 4-5 songs they like. I don't know what magical musical universe they're living in, but an album with 4-5 good songs these days is worthy in my books!
If musical history were written one month after an album came out, Be Here Now would be one of the greatest british albums of all time and Morning Glory would be a disappointing second album with a mediocre lead single.
Time will tell if this is considered a great album. Not half-assed, semi-retarded internet posts.

the songs you named are all standout tracks, I agree... STC outro is weird, but I actually like it, it's chaos, it works for me. The album is way way beyond crappy, it's a classic. It's a great album. It's not horrible in any way. It has 2 "week" songs on there if you call them that. I mean we're talking 2 songs that are better than all of the music in the world almost. I'm just being critical. This is a 4/5 star album all the way, maybe 4.5/5 even. Very good. You're talking like it was the Beady Eye record... and it's not  |
