Post-2000? Fuck that for a laugh. Give me a proper live version of Going Nowhere. Would be epic in every sense of the word. The song just soars. No idea why this was never ever played live. Playing by the rules, the post-2000 song would have to be re-instating Little by Little in it's full blown glory. None of this stripped down acoustic nonsense (same goes for Going Nowhere). Perhaps even Sunday Morning Call. It has that epic ballad feel to it, too. Would also love to hear Idler's Dream live. No chance of that, though.

Oh, and also put D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman into the set list, if we're ignoring the post-2000 rule of the thread, while we're at it. Nice little tune, that.

You have to forgive NL4E. He's stuck in the 90's with very narrow musical tastes.

Going Nowhere was comfortably the worst of the Be Here Now b-sides. There's three good Noel-sang tunes ahead of that. How good would it be if he rolled out The Fame?!!!!
FTR
Stay Young The Fame Angel Child (I Got) The Fever My Sister Lover Flashbax Going Nowhere
If we include the covers, Street Fighting Man above My Sister Lover and Heroes above Going Nowhere.

Totally disagree. The Fame is shit. Cocaine rubbish. Fever and MSL are average at best. Flashbax, Heroes and Angel Child are good. Going Nowhere is fantastic along with Stay Young. And I think I've listened to their cover of Street Fighting Man once and its probably my least favorite Oasis recording ever. Going Nowhere would be great to hear live. It's heartfelt and isn't a coked up song about nonsense like the fame. There is a reason why Stay Young and Going Nowhere are on the masterplan and others weren't...

I know you said '1', but I reckon any of these would all work really well alongside his new material...
Where Did It All Go Wrong? Snday Morning Call Gas Panic! Roll It Over (even though Noel never sang these last 2 on the record I reckon he could pull it off) One Way Road Carry Us All Just Getting Older Shout It Out Loud
EDIT: If I had to chose one I'd probably go for Gas Panic!, although that 'd probably be better suited to stadiums than the smaller gigs Noels gonna be doing, so in that case I'd settle for 'Where Did It All Go Wrong?'...

I'd love to hear him play The Turning, like the alternate version. Favourite song off DOYS by a country mile.

NL4E; stop pretending to be English!!! It's pathetic. No American talks like that Come off it. He loves Noel's ace tunes. Fuckin' mega songwriter, Noel. Writes fucking proper tunes, none of that other nonsense. NL4E's a fucking geezer, man. But yeah, I agree with you. It's awkward to read, especially since his location is screaming out to you under every post he makes.

Yeha and the reason is that Noel prefers them To dismiss one Oasis song as coked up shit seems a bit odd, as most of the early stuff is coked up music, which was one of the reasons it was so good. The Fame was the alter ego to My Big Mouth and a big fuck you to everyone who was getting on Noel (and Liam)'s back all the time. Great tune. All opinion, but really, Going Nowhere is not much cop and it rhymes car and jaguar FFS, that's as lazy as liar and fire

All opinion, but really, Going Nowhere is not much cop and it rhymes car and jaguar FFS, that's as lazy as liar and fire Yeah I agree that MBM is a cousin of The Fame but it has so much more swagger and even the lyrics are better also Liam's voice really helps carry that song. It's got a violent Sex Pistol's vibe that just comes busting out of the gates while The Fame is like Oasis by numbers during the BHN (yeah we're famous blah blah). Yeah Oasis was good when they were coked up (I love BHN) but at a point it was too coked up for my tastes. I'll listen to the fame on occasion but in my opinion there are better songs out there for him to perform. But the beauty of music is there is no wrong answer haha I'll give you the lyrics. ;D But still, the fame in my opinion overall has weaker lyrics

I like The Fame, one of its few supporters on this forum. But I'd much prefer Going Nowhere.
Going Nowhere epitomizes everything about Noel's early work. It's melancholic, yet hopeful. He's singing about how down trodden his life has been, and the wistfulness of a better future. It's classic early Noel song writing material in the conceptual vein as the likes of Rock N Roll Star. Noel is at his very finest when he balances that dichotomy of hopelessness and hopefulness.
Also, Going Nowhere would sound absolutely mega live. Noel's fantastic vocals. The rising chorus signaling hope, coming back down to the despair of his current situation, to the wistful outro that conveys a very similar emotion to that of the outro to the Stone Roses' Where Angels Play.
How anyone can dislike Going Nowhere is beyond me.

And no one knows why there's a spirit in the sky, that they've escaped for so long He will understand, while I take him by the hand, that life time's tunnel is long Well it will be all right If you stay tonight It's where we both belong It's gonna be FULL ON! It's gonna be full ooon It's gonna be full ooon It's gonna be full ooon
I love that song title, and I would like to see him rock live.

NL4E it's not that I dislike Going Nowhere per se (I think I've said before that there wasn't really an oasis song I don't like) but it is definitely, in my opinion, one of the weaker b-sides.
I remember the day Stand By Me came out, my Dad always used to go and buy the singles for me and him so before he came to pick me up that evening he said "there's two great ones and then a shite one with Noel singing," as I say I don't think it's shite but it's not one I ever play unless listening to the whole of The Masterplan or if I'm having one of my 'play all the singles' phases

Any of these for me: Underneath the Sky Cigarettes in Hell Going Nowhere Stay Young
Also love to hear Roll it Over live but I think Liam's vocals make that song.

1. Lord Don't Slow Me Down 2. Fade In-Out 3. Where Did It All Go Wrong? We will get the usual suspects - DLBIA, TIOBI, WONDERWALL. But I honestly think there will be some surprises - stuff we won't expect. The 3 above would be mega!!! Maybe some B-sides from the SOTSOG/Heathen Chemistry era
