Don't forget that Noel also said for YEARS that "All Around the World," was his best ever song. I was too young to follow Oasis at the time, but looking back through archives, there are tons of interviews from 1994, 1995, 1996 where he talks about how fantastic "All Around the World," is and how it was "the best fuckin' song in the whole world!" etc.
I never heard the song until a few years back, by which time it was already known as a disaster (that's a bit strong - it's a decent track, but nothing extraordinary IMO). I can only imagine how disappointing it may have been to those who were waiting for it.
That's not to say "Stop the Clocks" won't be good. But just be careful. Noel often thinks a lot of his songs are fantastic before he finishes them or releases them, then they're not so great anymore.
Besides, he hasn't talked about it in awhile. I think it may well end up as a b-side.
