liam is in fact.......... a girl who took too many hormones in her athletics-carreer.
she got caught, banned for life, and while shaving her leg, noel walked by and heard her screaming and thought: oi, that the voice I need.

i know that they were going to have the band play football on the front cover of sotsog, but as there was only 3 in the band at the time, they got other people to do it instead.

On the DM cover, that's Lee van Cleef on the Tele. He's one of my alltime favorites playing in westerns but, most notably he did a great stint on John Carpenter's Escape from New York.
Here he's Angel Eyes, aka "The Bad" from the "Good, the Bad, and the Ugly".
Wonder if Pete Townshend had him in mind when he penned "All the Best Cowboys have Chinese Eyes"? Lee could out squint Clint.
