Honestly, I think the excuse of Noel being lazy is lazier than actually not releasing it.

There might be a reason that none of us are aware of. That has little to do with the mixes or his relationship to AA. I think him saying that he's just lazy is too convenient. If he's so lazy then why did he revisit any of the songs from AA in general? He took the time to completely redo them for this album. That doesn't sound like laziness.

Something tells me that everyone is right. That it was a confluence of things that made him shelve it. His health, the time already put into it, the commercial success of HFB, the lack of Noel himself really being present in his own songs, the mixes, the material itself, Noel's laziness, his probable frustration. And it takes a lot frustration to shelve a project that was essentially completed. That's a lot of money to eat. DIV never got off the ground. This was near completion. I couldn't see him throwing all of that away for one singular reason, whether commercial success or laziness. It makes more sense that it was a myriad of reasons.

I think Noel came off tour unhappy and frustrated. I think he was faced with a choice, continue to let AA do their work, so put more money into it, go in himself and complete it, so parsing through everything AA did and deciding what stays and what goes, or shelving it and revisiting it later. He chose the last. I think in the end he made a business decision. As I said, he ate a lot of money for this to go away. Why cut ties with that money? You cut ties when you know you're gonna need to put more money down the drain. I think noel realized that it would take too much time and money to completely rebuild the mixes and songs while keeping AA's vision intact. Kind of like gutting and redoing a house with the same material. The laziness, the success of HFB, the frustration only made it easier to walk away. They just the supporting factors. It also explains why Noel isn't willing to just release it. Because it's probably not that good. It probably actually needs some work done on it. I think Noel finds it unacceptable to continue putting money into a "losing project" without any chance of recouping it. I think he finds it unacceptable to release something that he might not find very good even if it did give him a chance to recoup his money. So, that leaves two choices, do the work or walk away. Noel walked away because financially it didn't make sense to continue on with something that could be remolded later at a cheaper price and at his own control. Noel did what Noel does. He took the practical route out of a bad situation and because of that the AA project won't see the light of day. Because practically for Noel it doesn't make sense to. Only reason to do so know is if he's trying to prove something.

Now obviously, that's a lot of assumption by me. I may and probably am wrong, but that's the best I can make of it.
