I am a new fan of Oasis. I started really lsitening to them about six months ago, and one of my favorite songs of theirs is 'Little By Little' but (I know this will sound stupid), even though I love listening to this song over and over, I cannot figure out exactly what it's message is. I know it's about religion, but is it saying not to blame God for your own mistakes? is it saying not to let religion over run your life? I can't get the hang of it, can anyone here help me out?

I wouldn't even try and read into Oasis songs, there's usually not a lot of meaning to the lyrics they're just lines that Noel/Liam like all stuck together!
You'll prob find earlier songs have more of a 'story' as such, usually about drink, drugs, sex, and rock n roll!

Dude, not everything that has something to do with god is necessarily religious, it just rhymes and it kicks fookin' ass, mate. cheers.

Make of it what you want, its YOUR song now. Personally i think its a load of rhyming words formed together to make a tune. But if you can take anything from it then do. As i say its your song!

force of nature had nothing to do with Meg. He wrote that song back in 2000 for the film love, honour, and obey. The song was written well before they split.

Noel has said that he wants people find their own meanings in the songs. If you want him to tell you what they mean, do you also want him to tell you how to feel as well? Oasis has never worked that way. I don't see Noel as the type of songwriter who takes pleasure in writing songs with obscure meanings that only a select few will ever decipher -- that's too damn pretentious. His messages are universal and should be understood by all, as Oasis' music has always been inclusive.

Noel's music sometimes strike as autobiographical. Look at Champagne Supernova. I believe he said it has no meaning, but his usage of "meaning" tends to be in an explicit sense. When I listen to Champagne Supernova I am hearing an autobiographical tidbit of his life coming through those speakers -- the glory of the rock n' roll lifestyle and the drug induced haze -- it's INDESCRIBABLE. Hence a nonsensical term to best express it: champagne supernova.

well i'm pretentious then. In Noel's eyes? Probably. Past interviews with him confirm as much.

lol oasis songs dont really have deep meanings that u have to figure out. if u want that try radiohead The meanings in Radiohead songs probably aren't any deeper than those in Oasis songs. I guess it depends on your definition of "deeper." edit: I'd say that the meanings in their songs are more often obscure.
