It's not that easy to find a good love song that doesn't fall into the cheesy zone, so what do you reckon are your favourite? Here are a few of mine:

It's a quite complicated "love" song, but mine is (also one of my all time favourite songs):
Reel Around The Fountain - The Smiths

I love Girl From The North Country. Especially the one from Freewheelin' Bob Dylan. I like the one with him and Johnny Cash from Nashville Skyline, but this is the version that captures the most feelings for me.
I've always like the melancholic nature of this song. It's so melancholic that it's off putting. And you kind of forget that it's a love song. Really one my favorite songs of all-time. I use to play it to myself on my acoustic a lot.
I have always loved Nights In White Satin. Great song about unrequited love. I tend to like songs that have an equal mixture of hope/love/melancholy. (which is probably why I like Oasis so much)
Noel is just so good at love songs. He's great at injecting just enough melancholy and putting enough common feelings and thoughts, that his love songs rarely if ever sound corny. And it has quite possibly one of his 3 best lines ever. "Me and you what's going on. All we seem to know is how to show, the feelings that are wrong."

John Denver - For Baby (it does have some pretty cheesy lyirics, but John can pull that kind of stuff off, and he has a dozen others that are amazing too.) Macca - Maybe I'm Amazed Elton - Your Song

Thanks for the great suggestions, keep them coming! I just thought of two (more recent) ones:
I think the arctic monkeys one is particularly original and I love it!

Basically everything from Dylan's Blood on the Tracks, especially 'if you see her, say hello'. This one is not the album version but an earlier version, the only one I could find, because Dylan's record company removes almost every youtube vid of Dylan.
If you want 'rockier' love songs, this live version of Shelter from the Storm is pretty good I think.

Love everything from Blood On The Tracks, but especially Shelter from the Storm. Dylan is such an open vein. He can be very lovely and touching, yet show extreme anger. His lyrics have that great raw quality to them. k+

Cheers, the mid-70's Dylan is my favorite period of his career. Gonna see him live in october, can't wait! I've heard he's great live. He loves adding new bits of lyrics to his songs I hear, and begins them in a way that you can't recognize exactly what he's playing when he starts a song. I missed him when he hit Chicago. I'm hoping I'll get a ticket whenever he gets back here.

Where do we start?! It's easy to start off with my favourite bands, Slide Away is up there, along with Well I Wonder by The Smiths. There's also my favourite U2 song of all time which was a b-side to a single from The Unforgettable Fire era which is called Love Comes Tumbling. But personally, I don't think anything beats or will beat There Is A Light That Never Goes Out.
Others I love:
My Very Best - Elbow Closer - Travis (also look at Fran Healy's tune 'Anything') Tender - Blur God Only Knows - The Beach Boys Drawn From Memory - Embrace Standing Here - The Stone Roses Shiver - Coldplay In My Life - The Beatles Can't Help Falling In Love - Elvis This Guy's Love With You - Herb Alpert Songbird - Fleetwood Mac

Quite a few I can think of, but ones that spring to mind:
The Beatles - Something The Verve - One Day Neil Young - Only Love Can Break Your Heart The Smiths - Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want La's - There She Goes Kinks - Waterloo Sunset Oasis - Slide Away and Girl In The Dirty Shirt (That's a love song right?)
and this, slightly cheesy semi naked chick in the video, but one of the best love songs ever in my opinion, just beautiful:
