Both songs had to grow on me. After first listen, I didn't care for either one of them.
After multiple listens though, I fell in love with both songs.
Now, a few days later, for every listen of TDOYAM, The Good Rebel is getting played about 10 times as much.
I just love good and proper rock feeling tunes and I guess I always will.

It's more infectious, but I prefer the moodiness of TDOYAM.

Yeah, I do. Never been that enamoured with The Death of You and Me. Find it a bit of an overly familiar plod. The Good Rebel is great though, really euphoric.

No, it's not even close. TDOYAM is much more special. TGR is good I guess (for a b-side), but the "raaaaaaaainn" parts are not helping the song imho. For one time Noel chose the right a-side for one time imho.

Yeah the "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNN" part completely turned me off the first time I heard the song. After repeat listenings of it though it grew on me and my wife is ready to send me to a mental institution because I'm walking around the house singing, "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNN LIKE RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNN. I don't care for the sunshine."
I think its the music over the lyrics. I love a good mid to up tempo rocker.
I love TDOYAM, but the bridge with the trumpets not my favorite thing. Do they have the circus in the UK? In the US we have travelling circuses and that trumpet bridge from TDOYAM sounds exactly like something you would hear when they start marching the elephants out.

Not at all. I hate TGR... It's just a wall of noise to me...

Me neither. The Good Rebel is just really boring and uninspired sounding - lumbering dad rock and no sophistication to it at all. The verse is alright but it suffers like most of his poor songs in that the chorus is rubbish.

TDOYAM is more mature song writing, but I prefer the BHN-ness of TGB.

I think it was best the way Noel released them. TDOYAM is the better song, so it gets the A-side spot.
TGR is a solid tune as well, though some lines can be a bit much. It got the b-side, which it deserves.

certainly. not saying TDOYAM is bad song, but it's boring as hell imo. the b side is more to what i was hoping for from Noel.

When I listen to The Good Rebel, I just hear Liam's voice in my head, he would own that song. I think if Liam sang it I'd prefer it, because I generally do prefer stuff Liam sings. I expect Noel's album to be better than Beady Eye's but I'll still probably wind up enjoying Beady Eye more because of the vocal. Anyway, sorry to sidetrack, my point is that I do prefer The Death of You and Me, it's a better song and Noel sings it well. The Good Rebel is good though, very good.

I'd expect the vast majority of US fans to prefer TGR and the UK set to lean towards TDOYAM.
Exceptions to be sure, but one just seems to suit the other pretty well.
And as an American and I solidly give the nod to the good rebel, FWIW.
I'm And as far as Liam singing it, sure. Then he'd absolutely butcher the raaaaaaaaaain refrains live.
And I mean butcher em'.
