Any theories on why A. Bell wears a space helmet in the Beat Goes on Vid (the Man City gear launch)?
BTW-- are people in England actually excited by the new Man City gear? It's just a blue shirt with an advertisement on it... hockey gear is so much cooler...

It's because he supports another team (I think)

People other than city fans don't give a shit about the new kit. And Andy doesn't like football, so the supporting-another-team theory is way off. He probably just did it because he is, in his own words, 'absolutely mental' ...#sarcasm

It's because he wasn't even there at that time. It's not Bell, he's been at home for five weeks thinking what to say about Oasis split. Finally, he came up with "Noel is lying".
Other explanation can be that Liam called the wrong Andy Bell and the guy from Erasure showed up. They had to quickly hide this misunderstanding somehow.

There must be a severe padding shortage in the shops at the start of each season. ;D

In all honesty Soccer is overall more popular than hockey in this country (the U.S.).

Because the song is called Blue Moon, and he's wearing a space helmet, because you can find them occasionally on the moon?

Hockey is definitely way bigger in the U.S. It's just because you live in Texas that you don't realize how big it is in the Midwest and Eastern Sea Board. Anyway I think Andy Bell just did it for attention. He seems to love getting attention now that Noel is out of the picture.

Which is why Atlanta lost a team to Canada recently....go Jets go!
Andy is paying tribute to Bonehead for wearing a helmet in the Shakermaker video while playing soccer!

You guys and your North American sports. There must be a severe padding shortage in the shops at the start of each season. ;D The average National Hockey League player is 6 foot 2 and 220 pounds. He can shoot the puck at speeds upwards of 100 km/hour and he does so on razor sharp skates while hurtling his massive frame at the next guy-- all of whom are ENCLOSED IN BOARDS AND GLASS-- no running out of bounds when scared... So yeah, "padding" is kinda required. How big is the average Italian football waif and how hard does he kick the little ball? There's no padding in golf either so I guess that's a tough man's sport by your logic?

You got very defensive there for no reason at all Where did I say Italian footballers and golfers are playing tough men sports There's plenty of "tough man's sport" (as you call it) that don't have any padding. I was merely making a joke that all the popular ones in North America use padding. Calm down ;D

Andy is wearing the helmet just in case Liam wants to throw a plum at him and go at him with a guitar. It's always important to wear protection.

In fact, that was Noel wearing the helmet. andy is lying about being on this video or a Man City fan.

The truth is that he's wearing it because he wants some attention. We all know.

The floor in the video clip looks like the floor in the "hotel room" at the end of 2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY. The main character in the film first arrives wearing a spacesuit and space helmet. Is it possible the concept for the video started off as a tribute to that film?

He tries to do something a bit different, a bit Mod, a bit psychedelic, and you go absolutely wild. He's trying to show that he has a different personality from the Hendrix-esque guitar solo-spinning hero, cut the bloke some slack. If Noel had done something like this, you would be giving him blowjobs left, right and centre.

Actually...when Noel wore his jacket buttoned a bit stupid I called him on it.
If he wears a helmet on stage I may have to black it out in my memory...
