Hello
After listening to TDOYAM his vocals are just exceptional, and it seems in recent years he is trying new things with his voice with the falsetto being the main stand out technique WFTR TIOBI and TDOYAM are all brilliant examples.
I was just wondering if anyone thinks that he might of had some kind of vocal coaching in the last few years?, it seems the older he gets the better his voice gets and his voice is one of the reasons im looking forward to the album, even the spacey effect in the verses of RM and FD are really effective.
Its a pretty sad situation that Liam has gone the opposite way, i never thought i would be in a position where i prefer Noel's voice to Liam's both on record and live.

I just hope he does the high bit in If I Had A Gun in falsetto (my EYES would only) instead of how he does it in the soundcheck. Sounds really strained and kinda goes through me but it'd sound great in falsetto.

I think since DBTT he has realised he has got a good range and potential for great variation and has touched on that lightly in the songs recorded from then onwards, i think he will put more effort into studio effects on his voice and even just throwing up a few tricks like in TDOYAM, looking forward to STC if it is indeed in that higher key

I dont think so, hes always had it in him to deliver a great vocal, only now he has to really give it his all for an entire record

It's all down to mic technique. He changed the way the mic is set up so he hangs over it (i think this was since 2002) so as a result he's been singing better and as a result in tune more often. This with the fact he's been singing more in the last ten years have made him develop his singing style and he's just got better and better.

I don't think it's anything professional.
I just think as time went on and Noel began to sing more he began to practice more and figure out his strengths. IMO he is probably the more likely one to experiment on his own to figure out what his voice can do and practice it.
Plus Noel is a musical magpie. I'll sure he's been watching singers that he has seen in concert and trying out to figure out how they did bits on records and tried to pick up tricks.
Also the slight vibrato in his voice for the IIHAG soundcheck is great. Personally I hope he keeps that. That's another thing that Noel has never done and it'd be great it he worked @ it.

He always said his voice improved when he realised you don't have to sing to the back of the crowd - his vocals on some Oasis tours in the 90's were pretty poor, he was singing far too loud and just belting it out. Since 2000, he's had a lot more control in his voice and vocal style. Compare a version of Don't Look Back in Anger in 1996 to one in 2000 for example...

Yeah, I don't know if it's any professional help. But after 2000 especially his vocal prowess really took off. Noel mentioned that he used to sing so he could reach the person in the back-row. Then he made the jest that he discovered the P.A. system. It really became the band of inverses. As Liam declined, Noel got better, and is still getting better.
Noel sings properly. He doesn't rely so much on his vocal chords and instead uses his diaphragm. Usually singers who don't use their diaphragm burn out and sound like Liam.

I think Noel's album will reveal the improvement and level of talent his vocals have to the masses / casual fans, i remember a few people commenting on how great he sounded when TIOBI came out and how they didnt realise he was such a good singer.
His newer more subtle version of DLBIA live are IMO phenominal which harks back to the points above of him not singing to the back row etc, exciting times ahead
