This used to be the song I was most looking forward to, based on all the demos and soundcheck stuff we heard so far...but because the guitar solo has supposedly been removed from the song, and because of where the track was placed on the album, I have lowered my expectations quite a bit. On the other hand, Stop the Clocks has supposedly gotten much, much better since we last heard it in demo form, so I'm more excited to hear that now. I hope that Noel only had his tracklisting mixed up in his head at the press conference, and that RM is indeed the first track with a guitar solo. But we'll see. It could be a solo of OTHER INSTRUMENTS. But who knows. I agree with you that the fact it isn't the last track on the album could indicate that it isn't any longer or grander than the demo, which is what I hoped it would be. Doesn't mean you can't have an epic song on an album placed somewhere other than last. Gas Panic and Roll It Over are both epic songs, but you can only have one last track on a record. I hope STC is vastly improved from the demo (higher key, better arrangement and mix at the very least.)

it's Bert of Bert and Ernie off Sesame Street. come on, Bert's great. scary but great nonetheless. good things. Oh I know it's him, but I've just never seen a Muppet that angry. Looks as if he's about to rape Ernie. This photo was taken of Bert whilst he was listening to DGSS for the first time. My reaction was similar, in all material respects.

RM is one of my favorite Oasis songs altogether...if Noel does this right, it could end up as a real classic. The song definitely has the potential.

"And build a little fire where it's cold..." That line/melody alone warrants it being on the album. Hope in a bleak world. Classic Noel. I love it.

Does any one else think Record Machine sound too good to be a demo?
Can't see the final version sounding much different.

Does any one else think Record Machine sound too good to be a demo? Can't see the final version sounding much different. At one point the song was supposed to be much grander. Noel once described the song as 10 minutes long with three guitar solos. (Not to mention with Liam on main vocals, with Noel + Liam trading off the "I Wanna Live In A Dream" lines back and forth during the second chorus. I think I would have an eargasm if I ever heard that.

I fear that the final version will still be around the same length as the demo, even if the arrangement and mix are different.

i dont think it will sound like the version we have heard as when dave sardy heard it first time he thought it was shit and dragged Noely Poly over the pond to his den of debauchery and buggered Noely Poly til it sounded top banana!!!!!

For all we know, Sardy heard an even earlier version. I'm pretty sure the version we have was recorded with Sardy in LA during the DBTT sessions. The production on the piano bits and drumming are classic Sardy, DBTT-era techniques. Even still, I'm glad that Noel has taken a few years to release this and "get it right".

I wonder if he will keep the little bit of stop the clocks he sings in the demo version?
I hope he does it sounds pretty cool.
