I thought I'd make a thread discussing the significance of the music video and the story it tells in relation to the words of the song, as it hasn't really been discussed in depth yet. I'm probably gonna get slated for this for looking too far into it and being too analytical but nevermind, FUCKERS ! Here's my interpretation.

I definitely think there's a link between the lyrics and the video. The waitress in the diner, we see her looking out of the window, looking contemplative. We're made to feel like she somehow feels unfulfilled. As she serves coffee to the people in the diner, it's easy to tell that, while she's putting on a smile, she doesn't want this. These people, the metaphorical storm clouds, are sucking up her soul. She wants to be free, free of the life she's living, free of these people who will be 'the death of her'.
We see another shot of her gazing out of the window, once again contemplative. Life is getting faster, it's getting away from her, no one has the answer, the answer to what she has to do to achieve fulfilment in her otherwise mundane life. She makes her feelings known when she takes off her apron and throws it. She's getting desperate.
She's on her break now. She goes out back where there's a swimming pool. But this isn't just a swimming pool. It's a metaphor for the plunge she has to take to change her life once and for all. She turns her back to the pool, ready to fall in backwards and take this plunge, but suddenly she seems unwilling. Noel comes, and gives her the push she needs to change her life.
As she walks back through the diner, soaking wet, we see a different waitress to the one we saw at the start. No longer is she going through the motions of life because she feels she has to, too afraid to take the plunge to make a change It's easy to see that she's made that plunge and she's a different person now. And the fulfilment she's wanted is on its way.
When she sees the horse and wagon and the band, she gives us the first genuine smile we've seen from her. This is it. This is what she's been waiting for. The wagon door opens, ushering her into her new life, a life which will allow her to run away from the people who will be the death of her.

Now like I said at the start I'm probably gonna get slated to fuck for that because I'm probably looking too far into it. The video probably doesn't have any meaning whatsoever, I just thought it'd be fun to analyse it a little. What do you guys think the video's about ?

On a side note, how awesome are oreos ? Seriously, I'm sat here eating some and they're possibly the best things I've ever ate.
