It's not out of the realm of possibility for established rockers. The STrokes hit 1 million after 4 days or so with the first single of their last album.
Still, the fact that Noel beat the Strokes by 24 hours is impressive.

People underestimate the influence that Noel has. There's hundreds of thousands of teenagers that are diehard Oasis fans but only discovered them around the DOYS period. To their generation Liam is more a style icon than a musician and it is Noel's music that they idolise.
