why do people hate facebook? I only have a couple of reasons: 1. It creates addiction, which is never a good thing. 2. They own all of your pictures and information that you post, hince it's not secure. 3. It blurs the line between public and private life which is the biggest contributing factor to many of our worlds issues with everything from relationships to employment. If those issues were absent then maybe I'd participate in the social cesspool of the world.

If those issues were absent then maybe I'd participate in the social cesspool of the world. I think that Facebook owning photos thing is a popular misconception. If you check the privacy statement they deny 'owning' any personal items. They have access to your information so they can do target specific advertising, which isn't great but it keeps it free I guess.

I only use mine for things like this, other than that I'm not a big fan. I do like twitter though ;D
@jitkenson Google+ own everything you share, not sure about facebook.

I know that for sure. And large companies, sports teams, and some universities, employ sites to look at your Facebook.

Well, you shouldn't put something on facebook that you wouldn't share with a person in a job interview if they asked so I don't see that as a problem.

Well, you shouldn't put something on facebook that you wouldn't share with a person in a job interview if they asked so I don't see that as a problem. That's all well and in theory. But most people do have more than 1 pic or statement that they wish wasn't on Facebook. It's the nature of social media. Something that seems innocuous to you, may not seem that way to another person.

I only use it when I go on trips. I post videos and pictures for my mother back home.
