Great to see! Maybe Noel can pull in some non-Oasis fans. Definitely! It seems like Noel managed to reach most of the casual Oasis fans with this one. My theory for the popularity is twofold: 1. I'm guessing that a fair few Oasis fans that were turned off by BDI's release (myself not included), and those people were probably clamoring for a Noel release when they realized they weren't getting what they wanted from LAG & Co. 2. There are a lot of Oasis fans that were mainly Noel fans, but not so much fans of Liam. It doesn't seem likely that there are too many just Liam fans out there because it would be tough to love his work without at least liking the songwriting behind it. This would be the release that those sorts of people were waiting for as well. Agree with every point. It does seem as if he has gotten a lot of the casual fans that either Beady Eye never had, or that they lost. k+

Great stuff.
It's growing on me now. I think it's just the video that brings it down.

I am alone in thinking that such a story might, er, actually stop it (or any song by any artist) actually becoming a hit?
In that - if it's readily available on youtube - which everyone has on their phones and laptops - why buy it, especially a single?
Thoughts?

In that - if it's readily available on youtube - which everyone has on their phones and laptops - why buy it, especially a single? Thoughts? Not so. Youtube has such a wide reach, that it caters to all demographics. Millions upon millions of people use it each day. So even if you're correct, that the vast majority will just watch the video and listen to the song that way...even if 5% of those people decide to then buy the single or download it, that makes a significant impact. Not to mention that exposure is more valuable than actual sales at the moment.

I mean if Beady Eye had had a proper release for The Roller, they probably would have made it close to the top 10 with just the hardcore fans. Noel will also get the hardcore fans, and that will enough to get him close to the Top 10. For Noel to get well into the Top 10, he just needs a decent number of casual fans. So, I don't think that it will hurt it that much. Though I do wish that he were releasing it two weeks from now, rather than a month from now. But anyways, people who want to buy it will buy it. The people who don't, are probably the people who wouldn't have bought it anyway.

it's doing way better than even TSOTL when the video was released.
I gotta say the way they handled the premiere/release of this single has been complete and utter perfection. THIS is how it's supposed to be done. Not premiering the shit on radio one day, then dropping the video the next week, only to find out that the single itself will go on sale 2 months from then and then announce it'll only be availably on vinyl, then release it on iTunes 2 weeks later. fucking retarded.
well done Noel.

Judging by the release of the Roller, I can tell that BDI doesn't care for them. And neither does Noel probably. But that's beside the point. He was asking if the early views would affect the physical sales. Which is what I was responding to.

Awesome! This song is really British-sounding but compared to the absolute SHIT on the radio these days, this sounds like the greatest thing ever.

I think Noel's people have handled everything perfectly to this point as far as the release, but I think they are making a huge mistake by not having the single available to pre-order right now.
I suppose they're banking on significant radio airplay in the next month-ish to keep demand high for the single when it arrives.
Thoughts?

Yeah, TSOTL had 3 million views and took about 3 years. TDOYAM might be million before the end of tomorrow. It's literally getting 50,000 views every hour.

I really like this song. Noel is just so clever and gifted. He's on another level. Aside from this, as much as i love liam and the guys from beady eye, the DGSS album is collecting cobwebs on my shelf. I personally like beady eyes b-sides better than anything on the album. Anyways...as you were.

I think we might have underestimated just how much the hype machine could/would get going for this album...it's certainly exceeded my relatively modest expectations thus far.

It should take at least 2 weeks for the song to pick up steam...from there it can either grow into a hit, or the numbers will start to drop off there. Cool, i keep switching stations in the car everyday to see if i catch it but obviously its still a bit early, the youtube views have been pretty amazing so far, hope it continues As I said in another thread Im sure zane lowe will play it on bbc radio 1.. what do you know? he did play it on the day it was give to radio stations. Xfm have played 6 times since it's primer on monday,,, radio2 have played it also... it should enter the top 100 airplay charts this week or next week I think.
