Who the hell are they?! He is just untouchable, is he not? After listening to, what can only be described as, the best song I have heard in years (and that is no overstatement or exaggeration, I fucking love it!!) he has shown what his 'new sound' is and I can't think of too many artists around ATM that are on his level.

Now...I'm not gonna rain on your parade
BUT COULD WE STOP STARTING THREADS JUST TO POST 1 PERSONS OPINION OF HOW GREAT IT IS?
Also...I'm impressed that no one has started the reverse thread yet.

Also...I'm impressed that no one has started the reverse thread yet. I would but this forum is like some totalitarian regime. If the "old" members have a different opinion you get slaughtered and I thought the oasisinet.com forum was a joke. lol

This thread serves a specific purpose, to compare Noel to his contemporaries. I see nothing wrong with it.

If you say something then people are going to "engage" with the comment. Expect discussion. If you want a place where you can write your opinions and have no discussion...try your diary. Honestly...what is a board for if not discussion...even if it sometimes gets heated. I would only advise you not to start with personal insults against the regulars. It not generally done...well...only to some. And newbies being mean to much-loved long-timers generally doesn't go down well. You'll notice we argue with eachother heatedly a lot too if you choose to stick around for a bit.

He is in competition with no one.
The only act that I could think he would be competing against is Beady Eye.

perspective is a great thing, some objectivity.
i do forget this a place geared towards Oasis-related things sometimes, though.
drinking kool-aid is great in small doses.

Don't get why I am being slated... I wrote an article about Noel's peers. Didn't post a thread posting my opinion on 'how good' the song was... gdforever seems to be a bit menopausal to me :/

Being a rock star in his 40's, he has no obvious rivals. But he will always have to fight for respect amongst common radio listeners. Mainstream if you will. After all, every artist is up against that to some degree or another. As long as artists continue to use music to make money, then the average listener is where they have to take their fight.
I think Noel has the music savvy and IQ to navigate those waters pretty well, but I highly doubt he will grow to Macca, E. John, or even Groban status as a solo artist. It's too hard to make that transition in our modern music scene.

Fairly simple article, i thought.

I would say Damon Albarn, but he is turning himself into a young version of Sting, just boring.

Damon's gotten better with age, in all honesty.
I don't even think Noel has any issue with him anymore. Deep down I think Noel even respects Damon.
