To add to my "little things I love about the song" posts...I like how there is literally no gap in between the verses and the chorus. In fact, he split it up so that the last line of the verses and the first line of the chorus make up one complete sentence. It's so immediate and it adds to the song.

YouTube comment sections are the sewer lines of the internet. If you're ever in the mood for the most ridiculous, vile and racially charged comments, just hop on there and check out what those mongoloids are saying. Humanity at its best right there. It's hilarious and terrible at the same time. Hey lg, you're lukewarm on TDOYAM, does this affect your expectations for the album? And other than a new 'Step Out', what would actually make you happy? What kind of song(s) would get you excited? first things first... finally someone who READS what is actually being posted. really no better word to describe how i feel about the song than "lukewarm"(brain-dead fanboys, please google it lol). But yeah, i only like to an extent, and i am not overly content or excited with it to say the least. However, i am not too disappointed because i knew getting something truly epic was a long shot. Now i didn't want a "new Step Out" per se, but i wanted something that resembled that sound. Some might say this is "the new Idle" and i guess they'd be right(fanboys please feel free to argue this). However i didn't want something that identical to Step Out. I would've been satisfied with something similar to WDIAGW or Going Nowhere or Just Gettin' Older. That's what i thought was somewhat in the cards, i knew no Cigarettes & Alcohols or Hey Nows or even Stay Youngs were coming, that was completely out of the question simply because Noel can't write tunes like that anymore, or maybe he doesn't want to, one of the two.(it's probably NOT the latter).

lol the hilarity resumes. anyways, thinking of doing something fun to determine if the whole "fans declare DTOYAM better than BDI" deal is actually accurate.
it's rather simple really, go back to pg 1 and start reading, we all do that kind of thing to get caught up from time to time anyways so why not.

For the love of god, it's an OPINION. If a select few people think that Noel's new song is better than BDI's entire catalogue, than let them think that. Similarly, if someone thinks that everything BDI has ever done is better than Noel's music, then well, that's what they think. As long as they have reasons for feeling the way they do, you can't really tell them they're 'wrong'.

It's passed the first day test, still love it This. I'm aware I'll probably get proclaimed village idiot for this, but has anybody noticed that the TDOYAM video is getting a lotttt of plays? Been out for 36 hrs and it's registering over 387K plays. I don't remember this kind of thing happening with BDI, so perhaps the new single will fare better than Noel (and a fair few of us here) thought...?

It's the most views an Oasis related video on youtube has ever gotten in 36 hours. (Bar the video of Noel being pushed over in Canada, now that got like a million in 2 days) It's also been rated twice as much in the last 36 hours than what BTL has been rated in the 8 or so months since the video came out.

yup, glad to see it's being feature on youtube's homepage under Music. Hopefully it gets to the one million mark by the end of the week. @kitjenson, look man, i was born in Dallas, i don't know why you're saying you're appalled by that, if you feel like moving, go ahead and do so. Where are you from? i assumed you were a foreigner since you keep using british slang and terms like "bloody hell" and such. Again, if you're a foreigner GTFO, if you're not, quit being a douche and stop trying to sound british cos you're not.

But why? We've got hundreds of those types of songs with Oasis (and now Beady Eye are doing the same thing). You'd just want the same from Noel aswell? Now that would be boring. Noel is a 44 year old man, looking for a bit more sophistication and grandness to his tunes - just listen to the choirs and strings on Everybody's On The Run. That sounds mindblowing - I'd be disappointed if he just took the same Beady Eye formula with just guitars. I mean what is the point?

Wasn't it Noel who criticized bands that changed their sound and what was obviously working(for them) and had got them the fans the had? i think he singled out The Killers in one interview... well, i don't know. There are other artists out there who are doing this type of music, maybe they don't have as high a profile as Noel but they exist and if i was interested in that genre or sub-genre of music i would look into finding it. I have no desire for that style of music so ... Im not saying this is bad, i never said i thought TDOYAM was a bad song because it isn't. I just said i didn't think it was all that good even thought i did like it.

Noel really hasn't changed his sound, lgfaver. He's just not writing rock songs for a rock band anymore. But to me, this DOES sound like classic Noel Gallagher.
He wrote a similar song, Going Nowhere, way back in 1993 or so. He's always had this in him and it isn't particularly anything new.

Of course it's not new, there's a certain song that sounds a lot like this one that was featured on an Oasis album about 6 years ago. One a different not, did you just compare this to Going Nowhere! dude... no, just no.

Interesting. Is it safe to say that Noel has a lot more of the casual Oasis fan base than Beady Eye has? Obvious that was probably was always the case. All one has to do is look at Beady Eye's sales figure for their album. But now we have a bit more tangible data to go by. I wonder if Noel might be able to grab some of the non-Oasis fans, as well as the casual fans?
