Really loving this tune - I want it on vinyl playing in my garden as I sip a cool one.

Album is going to be very interesting with this, Record Machine, the full orchestra with Everybody's On the Run, If I had a Gun.
Little bit of everything. My bet is Record Machine will be the most Oasis-like in terms of rock style.

The horns are some genuine New Orleans Dixieland shit, I hope this album sells 15 million and flushes all of the fucking Katy / Gaga shit we've had to put up with in the last few years down the toilet where it belongs. I really love the horns as well. Horns, badly done, can sound kitsch and hackneyed. But they are so well done on this song. a airy whimisical number the pop cousin to life in a glass house by radiohead. Yes, I thought of Radiohead's LIAGH as well. PS. To the chap who said, "They kids will never buy it." My reply: thank God. Noel is making damn good music, he's not attempting to pander to the masses.

I'll ask again, am I the only one on this forum who was a bit disappointed after hearing this? It's a rather large departure from the style of music that brought me into Oasis in the first place back in '95. Had I heard this the moment after listening to "Don't Look Back in Anger" for the first time, I'd of thought "interesting b-side" and likely skipped over it there on after, much to the way I do "Going Nowhere". Yes, Noel may shock a few listeners with this new Bacharach-esque tune and bring in a few new gray-haired fans (don't kid yourself, kids aren't going to buy this one, it doesn't have that "punch"), but upon first couple listens I don't think I'll be blaring this one from my car or bedroom window like I did "Bring The Light". What we have here is a song I'll be skipping over on the album. Poor first single choice, in my opinion. The fact that you were blasting "Bring The Light" from your car is absolutely hilarious. Are you 75 years old?

What a fantastic way to start of the new week This is The Importance Of Being Idle pt.2, which in my opinion is a great thing. I really love the poppy melody in this tune. It's quite interesting, anyone else spotted the Falling Down sound in it yet? (Probably just being late, as I only heard it 10 mins ago). Can't wait to hear more from Noel

Anyone trying to figure out the song? I've got more chords than words down so far.
Its Capo 4.
Intro, verses:
Em9 Em7 B7
(for one line) Am B7
chorus:
G B Em Em7 C
very rough but its a start...i'll post a finished one in the right section when I'm done.

I'm liking that banjo in the background of the chorus and the violin in last chorus.

It's one of the first things a lot of people do after getting into a new tune, take it for the "car test". Anyway, again, not here to offend, just was giving my 2 cents. And I'm quite aware I'll likely be in the minority with this opinion, which is okay

I'm gonna stick with my 7 out of 10 rating. It'll probably lower once I hear and compare it to the rest of the album, but it's good. It has a lot more "life" compared to his last efforts on DOYS. That's not saying that this song is better than WFTR or FD, but it is definitely unique and very TIOBI-esque, which is definitely the best Noel sung track off of DBTT.
IDK, I'm just gonna take it how it is - a very solid track. I just know for a fact that it won't be one of the best songs off the album, for sure.

there's also a piano in the chorus.
i still like the horns. i can't think of many old school Britpop songs that could rip harder than this, brass-wise.

Who doesn't play songs they enjoy loudly while driving in their cars? I think he was referring to the fact that Bring the Light could have been released in 1956, not that people shouldn't blast music from their cars.

I think he picked it because it'd be a great 'summer single' and I think he's right.

Will be interesting to see how he does this in an acoustic setting in concert without the brass and stuff. I think I actually might like it better. It's right there on the edge of being too...I dunno..."fun"?
Good tune though and could do very well with some video airplay.

Fucking LOVE this.
Wonder who's fingerpicking, though. Certainly not Noel.

If Bring the Light could have been released in 1956, this song very well could be blasting outside a horse carriage during the gold rush of the 1800's. But then again, music coming from a horse carriage during those days wouldn't have been possible, so nevermind ;D

An acoustic session with this in it seems like it would fit quite nicely. Someone who can sing and picks up chords by ear pretty well should make a cover of this immediately! lol
