I'm left handed and play guitar left handed. Couldn't imagine strumming with my right hand or playing chords with my left hand!

well, you should be really good at guitar then. can we at least agree that left-handed people are a little bit goofy? good things. TBH I think for us lefties who play guitar with their right hand it's actually easier  I prefer using my left hand to play barre chords, because that's my stronger hand with a better grip. yeah I agree I feel it's easier I learned how to transfer between chords easily before I nail the strumming that good, was it the same with you  |

TBH I think for us lefties who play guitar with their right hand it's actually easier I prefer using my left hand to play barre chords, because that's my stronger hand with a better grip. yeah I agree I feel it's easier I learned how to transfer between chords easily before I nail the strumming that good, was it the same with you I learned to play guitar song by song, looked at which song used chords which I hadn't used before, and then learned the strumming of the song. At first I actually did have some problems with the strumming because I'm not that good at rhythm  but I think that's more about me being crappy than that it's something to do with using my right hand. Though I got to say, I'm more about finger picking now, I rarely strum anymore! |

You can learn the chords, but strumming is something you have to feel. "Strumming patterns" are the same ridiculous shit as learning jazz improv. by heart.

I'm left handed but play guitar with my right hand, I think that most left handed guitarists play like this as well. Most left handed people are in fact 2 handed (write with their left, kick a football with right, use a computer mouse with their right hand, etc.). It's not the same for right handed people using their left hand. I'm lefty, and play lefty. I tried playing righty at first and gave up. But a couple years later I got a lefty guitar and tried again, and learned. So I'm a lefty that plays a lefty. I don't know what kind of player I would have been if had learned to play with my right. |

on the topic of hands I'm actually a little bit ambidextrous. I play drums, guitar, and write right handed but I bat (or anything with a stick), use my mouse, and ride boards left handed or lefty style.

a friend of mine who's left handed plays right handed too. i guess it's easier since he buys a lot of guitars ;D

Think he is right handed though....I remember in one of those 10 minutes of noise and confusion documentaries where he was signing autographs and the cameraman asked I thought you were right handed? and Noel replied it is just for show as he was signing them left handed....I could be wrong!
