I think that "Forgive me if I spoke too soon..." part is not a chorus, but a bridge before or after the actual one. It just feels like that.
Anyway, good job, but I'm surprised how cheesy are the MIDI instruments on a 500$ software. Have you ever tried Sonar X1?

It doesn't work any other way.

Imagine you've never heard DLBIA and somebody played you an unfinished bit from a soundcheck, the "So I'll start a revolution from my bed" part would also sound like the chorus to you. We've heard only a rough sketch of "If I had a gun" so I would avoid definite statements, Mr. Lord Of The Songs Structure.

Noel thinks how the melody first, then the lyrics. It's extremely rare for Noel to be missing a whole section of a song. He may be missing a section of lyrics (like DLBIA soundcheck), but the melody is usually there. The structuring of the melody determines what the chorus, verse, bridge are. Not the lyrics. This is especially the case with Noel. Noel's melodies are usually complete. If you look at the melody, you can usually spot the different sections of a song. The melody that's there, is basically the melody that you have. I doubt if it will change that much. The lyrics will change, but I'd be surprised if the melody changed, or if the melody is incomplete. This is all in my opinion of course. Hate how on this forum you have to state "imo" at the end of every statement, or someone automatically thinks that you're being some kind of know it all.

Really shows the potential in this fantastic song!! Really good work mate I'd be pleasantly surprised if he has a orchestra on If I Had A Gun. Realisticly, I hope the Chrouch End Choir and The Wired Strings will feauture on the track. And yes, this could be the best track Noel has written in ages!!

Second that! Cheers, guys! I really appreciate your generous feedback. I'll try 'Everybody's on the run as well.' But I have to say: after the first go I had at it, it sounded a bit cheesy. I guess Orchestra is a bit much on this one. I'll try out somm other instruments and get back to you. As the sun is shining today, it might take a while...

We really don't know which part he played at the soundcheck...We'll come back to this coversation in October Anyway, it has the potential to be a classic.

What's the point of soundchecking a melodically incomplete song? That seems extremely random. Like I said, I'll be surprised if that song has changed drastically in terms of the melodic structuring from the soundcheck to the album.
But like you said, we'll find out in October.

That's not what I mean. Probably Noel did play the whole song, the point is that we've heard "only" 1 minute and 58 seconds of it. And I bet that it's not even half of it. You assumed that the most "melodic" part is the chorus - alright, it may be, but you just don't know, me neither and that's why I used phrases such as "I think".

You're assuming that it's more than 1:58. It probably has become longer, but that may have been done by just adding verses, rather than whole section of unknown melody. All I can recommend is learning how to play the song, and playing it to yourself on guitar. Anyways I'm done debating it. This guy does a pretty good cover of it:

So when I heard the first minute or so of this soundcloud remix you did, ksnoek, I actually was a bit bored by it, felt it was a little cheesy, and was hoping that Noel made the album version better.
BUT then the strings came in and the "Forgive me if I spoke too soon" part started, and THAT's when I realized I was listening to something really beautiful. Excellent job!!
