Hello all
I can only speak for the UK radio airplay but i was wondering what your opinions are on how Noel will get treated by UK radio - BDI didnt really get a look in (radio 2 gave them a bit of a chance, but its a much older audience), Radio 1, which pretty much have the most influence over the top 40 here had and still have zero interest in BDI and never really played anything from them.
My thoughts are that Noel will get playlisted by Radio 1, radio 2, and most local stations, i get the feeling The radio 1 management and alot of the audience really like him alot more than Liam, Noels interview on Chris Moyles when he first played TSOTL is now legendary, and Noel has won 2 live lounge votes recently.
Anyway i would love to see them really backing Noel and giving him a great chance in the single and album charts, i also know that Noels management need to apply the opposite strategy to that of BDI's
Id be interested in what the lovely people outside the UK also think of his chances wherever you are based.
Regards etc...

Does it? Coldplay are playlisted at the moment and that song is shite, without being biased i know Noels first single will be better than that.
Obviously the songs matter but i strongly believe that Noel will be given much more of a chance on how he is percieved compared to Liam, I will be surprised if he gets the BDI treatment from radio 1

I said it depends on the songs. Good song (does not equal sign) Airplay How do you do a does not equal sign?

I think Noels relationships with the DJ's will stand him in good stead.
We'll see though.

Radio 2 will be all over it if it's anywhere near radio friendly. I doubt Radio 1 will, 44 year old solo artists don't get played on Radio 1 unless the music is cutting edge and contemporary. Unless Noel comes out with some dubstep madness, then it won't be.

i live in the u.s. , in ohio specifically. BDI and Oasis get a lot of air play on a radio station near me, www.cd101.com/ . in fact i think that station was the first to air an interview with BDI about their album. i'm sure Noel will get the same kind of play if his album's at least ok.

Noel will definitely get more airplay than Beady Eye.
Just the name 'Noel Gallagher' will probably be enough to make sure even the more modern stations play him, at least a few times.
However, whether he gets a lot of airplay is a completely different matter.

Few good points, there is a few bands and solo acts the same age as noel but your talking snoop dog, foo fighters etc, The foos being an exception I think he will def do better than BDI on the radio, maybe the AA album will get some serious airplay by radio 1 you never know

its not about VS its about good music and its sad that in uk its hard to hear Beady Eye or any other good/great indie/rock/alternative band/artist including Arctic Monkeys, radiohead, the Horrors, pj harvey, wild beasts, British Sea Power...to name a few...

apart from the roller... BDI have got hardly any airplay at all.
I really don't think Noel will do too,, Radio 1 only play things that are trendy and rock n roll aint trendy at the moment in the uk.
if this was 2000-2006 then yes BDI and NOEL would be getting good airplay on radio1

I dont think that if your music is rock/indie it automatically means you won't get good airplay. Look at The Vaccines; they are all over the radio at the moment and have been for months. I think it depends more on your management and the promotion they are willing to put in, and unfortunately Beady Eye and Noel have lousy management, just as Oasis did for Dig Out Your Soul (think I heard I'm Outta Time once on the radio?). So yeah, unless Noel's management really push it, the album won't get much airplay.

But you only have to look at the best selling albums of 2011 in the uk so far. out of the top 20 best sellers only elbow and the foo fighters are anything related to alternative, rock n roll generes... the rest is soul, rap, pop, rnb.

Is this a new thing though? I know Eminem was the highest selling artist from 2000-2010, I expect some shit like Celine Dion was the biggest seller of the 90s. Rock hasn't been the primary genre of music in yonks, if ever

He'll get more airplay than BDI without a doubt, whether he gets sufficient airplay is unknown atm. Probably depends on the success of his 1st single, if that charts well Radio 1 might decide to give him a chance

Reckon album will get #1 (depending on who else releases that week mind) and if the 1st single squeezes into the top ten that would be a great achievement. Don't have high hopes for the remaining singles
