In the press conference noel mentions wwe and macho man randy savage does know if noel watches pro wrestling.

he did refer to it as wwe though, and most people i know still refer to it as wwf so he may catch RAW every now and then and i can see him rooting for The Miz!!!!

If Noels reference for WWE is Randy Savage he probably hasn't been a fan for a while, if ever.
I'm pretty sure Randy Savage left the WWE when I was a kid.

Hahaha, brilliant thread. If Noel is a fan of the WWE (I still lament the day the 'F' was lost), then I suspect he thinks his album will be the mandible claw (Mankind's finishing move, if no one recalls) that chokes out Beady Eye. If all else fails, he can just give Liam a stone-cold stunner.

I'm sure Noel has caught a couple of shows before on TV. He probably thought it was one of the most bizarre things he's ever seen lol. But the WWE is EVERYWHERE now. They travel to pretty much every country in the world, so it's not a real big surprise even Noel can keep track of them. But all he did was mention the name - the name change happened like around 02 - 03, so it's been a while now, and Macho Man is practically a legend with him wrestling back during the "golden" era. But who knows...

If the WWF was being shown in the Uk in the early 80s like it was in the States, I got a feeling Noel probably watched a few matches then. Noels my elder brothers age and we couldn't fucking escape having the pile driver, suplex, DDT, figure-four leg lock imposed upon us by him.
Every dudes different so go figure.

He knew about the 'oh yeeeah' so he's obviously aware of Macho Man's persona rather than just plucking a name. Wrestling was huge in the UK in the early 90s, Macho Man appeared on shows like GMTV for interviews.
That being said, the name change thing is a good point. To illustrate this, I actually read the quote (I think in NME but might have been elsewhere) as WWF...which shows how most people still refer to it. They need to get the F out tbh.

The drama in a wrestling match when the right people are involved (basically not wwe...) is unreal. We all know it's scripted but you watch movies right? Well I hate to break it to you but they're all scripted as well  If you think that's the case go on youtube and search for Ring Of Honor and Dragon Gate USA. |
