"start a new band". Christ. You mean oasis minus the guy who wrote 95% of the great music of course. You're wrong mate. Noel wrote 100% of the great music.

Let's face it, the fight was almost certianly down to Liam being unreasonable. However, we know that Liam and Andy got on well, whereas Noel and Andy either didn't or didn't have much of a relationship. Perhaps Andy thought Noel was right, but didn't want to jeapordise his friendship with Liam, hence why he didn't step in?

Let's face it, the fight was almost certianly down to Liam being unreasonable. However, we know that Liam and Andy got on well, whereas Noel and Andy either didn't or didn't have much of a relationship. Perhaps Andy thought Noel was right, but didn't want to jeapordise his friendship with Liam, hence why he didn't step in? makes sense. Can we justify Liam's violent behaviour? I also think people are overreacting about this Andy thing. Noel repeated the same concept twice about the rest of the band not saying a word, the first time he talked specifically about Andy, the second time he generalised. I agree that it must have been an accumulation of things for Noel. He probably always disliked the fact that the others never really spoke up when he thought they should have, particularly Andy who is quieter etc. It doesn't necessarily mean that Noel is right in thinking so, I understand that they would not want to get involved when it's personal stuff, but as it's been said before, they are band members, if Liam goes mental like that, it would be perfectly normal to have an opinion, anybody would have one. On the other hand, Oasis worked because everyone sticked to the roles "assigned to them", so I don't know how much Noel would have generally appreciated a more opinionated Andy or Gem. To cut it short, I think Noel mentioned Andy because they were less close, he is quieter than the others, it's more evident that he keeps to himself and doesnt show his opinions and so it was more evident on that night too. As a consequence they didn't stay in touch afterwards. Nothing more than that. On Noel being the actual evil, I don't think this makes sense. The fact that Liam is the one who keeps all the friends, that people stick with him rather than Noel isn't proof of that. Noel has always been the one who stood out musically, the more independent one, the more self-sufficient, and it's easier for people to get closer to Liam because he lets them and he needs support. The brothers are against each other and people will side with Liam. Noel is fine on his own, people sense that and because of his talent and personality, people tend to be more in awe of him than become friends with him. Of course Noel is no saint, but I don't understand why people find it easier to justify Liam's behaviour than Noel's harsh comments. Perhaps it's just harder to sympathise with someone you feel is stronger than you are.

In order for you to understand, you'd need to make the crucial distinction between OASIS and the MUSIC, and the content of the character of the guy who sings the songs. If you can do that, you can very easily understand how either are perfectly harmonious. "Everybody who has met him personally says he is a nice, decent and funny guy." You cannot make this shit up. Your inferred knowledge of Liam's social life is laughable. Yep, I'm sure he facebooks with Tony, Guigs and Bonehead regularly. As for friends with others, lmao. I cannot name a single figure in rock n roll who's so ROUTINELY slagged by others within the genre. What a joke. but hey: whatever helps you sleep at night. Well, most people who meet him are surprised how nice he is in real life. And I've never heard any fan complaints about Liam being rude to them. You even said so yourself in your post so I don't know what the fuck you are even arguing about. What does someone like Roger Daltrey gain from saying that Liam is a great guy who is really different from his public image and the opinions that people have of him? Why is Paul Weller so keen to point out he is still friends with both Gallaghers? Why was Bonehead at the fisrt Beady Eye gig to show support? That's the only point I'm trying to make here without being 'in the know' about Liam's social life. You on the other hand are for some reason convinced that he's an asshole and seem surprised that not all 'real Oasis' fans have come to that conclusion. I guess it can't be helped that as long as Noel and Liam are arguing publicly the fans are going to side with their favourite brother, but to call yourself a real Oasis fan while having obviously no respect for one of them is just ridiculous.

Noel is/was just jealous of pretty green by the sound of it. He wishes he had thought of it. That's the best joke I've ever heard...I'm sure all this time Noel has been beating himself up just WISHING he had started his own overpriced clothing label. You're clearly delusional.

So I'm finally going to give my take on this entire press conference. I had to wait until I heard it a few times and thought about it for a bit, because I didn't want to get too emotional and start being like the people who I have seen constantly defend Liam (as if he can do no wrong), and defend Noel the same way.
Firstly on the Pretty Green Advertising. I agree with Noel that the band should not have been associated with Pretty Green. I personally have never been a fan of the band and Liam's clothing line being associated together. I have always felt that if Liam wanted to do Pretty Green, then he should do it on his time with his own resources. I disliked when Oasis were together, and Liam would go out for Oasis interviews, yet only talk about Pretty Green.
Having said that though, I can see why Liam may have been angry. Liam probably got mad for two reasons. One was that, Oasis was his band too. He should not have had to go and beg Noel to put an advert into a small tour packet. Secondly, Liam and Noel are brothers. Liam probably thought that because he was Noel's brother, that Noel would make an exception for him. It's not like this was Chris asking for an advert, this was Noel's own brother. Again, I don't think that Liam should have associated Pretty Green with Oasis. But that's my personal preference. Noel could have been a bit more understanding and helpful. And I think that when Noel didn't support Liam with his venture, that Liam felt a bit betrayed. In then end, I can see where both parties are coming from.
Secondly, Andy did not break up Oasis. I think the general consensus is that he didn't, so I won't write anymore on why I think he didn't break up the band. Having said that though, I do believe that Andy should have done something during the fight. I don't know where this crap has come from that you can't break brothers up when they are fighting. I have a brother, and we share the same friends. We fight, we argue, we come to blows. And when we happen to do it in the company of our own friends, our friends do try to calm us down or break us up. Now I'm not saying that Andy should have gotten completely in the middle of the may lay, but to not speak up or at least do something. I just don't see how anyone can defend that.
Andy did show a lot about his character in my eyes. If he didn't want to defend Noel, fair enough. But he should have been enough of a friend to Liam, to try and at least keep Liam from doing something that he might regret. This fight wasn't a personal fight between Liam and Noel (from what we can tell), it was a fight that was dealing with the details of how the band should be run. Like I said, I can understand Andy not getting into it when Liam and Noel first started arguing. He probably thought that it was like any other fight and that it would soon calm down. I get that. I probably would have thought the same thing. But how could he not speak up when Liam left the room, came back with a guitar, and started swinging it around? How could anyone keep quiet with that happening? I just don't know.
Lastly, Liam was wrong for what he did. Noel was wrong for even trying to push Liam, but Liam should not have tried to take Noel's face off with a guitar. I just don't see how anyone can defend that. Liam should have acted his age for once. What fully grown man goes into another room to bring back a guitar, so he can hit his brother with it? I can understand the way Noel reacted. Someone swings a guitar at me, brother or not, he can go and fuck off. There is no possible way that I can defend Liam, other than saying that it might have been the heat of the moment. But even that is a weak excuse. I could understand it if it were the heat of the moment and the guitar happen to be lying in the same room with them. But to walk out and come back with it, and then started swing it. That just seems like the act of a mad person.
I don't know if I believe Noel's version more than Liam's. Most believed at first Liam because he was the only talking, but many have gone to Noel's side now. If you put me in a corner and made me choose, I'd probably believe Noel's account of what happened by just a bit. Basically 51(Noel )-49 (Liam). I believe Noel's account just a bit more, just because he gave more details. If Liam had given more details rather than saying two sentences on the matter, it might be a tie in terms of believability. I don't believe that Noel's version is the gospel truth, but I do believe that there is a lot of truth in there. Either way, Noel and Liam were both at fault for the crumbling of the band. Liam because of his rage and temper, Noel because of lack of understanding. I will always say that the brothers biggest flaw was communication. And it seems as if in that last year that they were together, that that's when their flaw truly did rear its ugly head.
Either way, people should really stop defending Liam on everything he does, and stop defending Noel on everything. There have been many who have demonized both. Calling both or one or the other, liars, sneaky, asshole, shitbag (lol), etc. This really needs to stop. It doesn't solve, nor help anything. And it just takes away all you're credibility.

i wish you gave out cliff notes with your books. hi spaneli, i'm sorry if i offended you last night. i still love you. Yeah, I tried to make it as short as possible. But there was too much to talk about. I've pretty much have stayed away from the extremely long posts for the last 48 hours. But yeah, I tried to fit everything in one post. And no problem. LIB. You're still my idol.

Personally I wish Noel had come out and had a go at Gem - he's the biggest fucking arse kisser ever. At least Andy Bell was reserved in most interviews etc - Gem just used to say whatever he thought would please Noel and Liam.
Funny he wasn't around and stepping in when it was all kicking off?
The only reason he's probably been in contact with Noel since is because of his requirement to fulfill the TCT gigs, apart from that he'll be quite happy lacing his pockets with Liam.
Also, can we just note that when there was the big blow out when Noel quit the European tour and the band carried on without him - Liam wouldn't go into detail as to what happened, it was Noel who stated the row erupted when Liam questioned the legitimacy of Anais - which Liam has never discussed.
Noel has always gone into detail on arguments, Liam doesn't - is it because he has a guilt complex later on as to why the argument started in the first place, like with the Pretty Green / Oasis issue...?

I can understand Liam being set off when Noel said to pay him for advertising Pretty Green. Is Oasis Noel's band? No.

I can understand Liam being set off when Noel said to pay him for advertising Pretty Green. Is Oasis Noel's band? No. But it was Liam's band? No, it was the sum of all the parts and even if the brothers are the ones that are in the spotlight they had other 3 bandmates who they shared the money(or a bit of the cake) of the profits. So Liam should have done the payment and stick to it. But why cry over the spilled milk? What they did is in the past and we need to move on.

I agree, Oasis was Noel, Liam, Andy and Gem. But if Noel said pay ME for the advert like he was the head, I can see that making Liam crazy. Liam Gem and Andy constantly bang on about how Beady Eye is a democracy

Sometimes those who seem to be the good ones are actually the good ones. I don't understand why some of you seem to think Noel is kind of a non-human cold man who has no feelings and all he says is fake and has been writed down the night before... Where d'you get the idea Noel's a cruel dictator from? ...

^ Re your last statement: Because people will believe what they want anyway. After 17 yrs, it's always been mystifying to me how "real" fans cannot see that Liam is a real Class A fuckin asshole to reporters, other bands, his brother, and just about every other human he interacts with (in his defense though he seems to have always been decent with fans and was fine both times I met him), but there you go. Does it mean Noel's perfect? Of course not. But I find absolutely no reason to discount what Noel attested to re the Pretty Green deal, Liam's missed show due to a hangover (track record), and violent outburst (track record). People's desire to split the blame right down the middle 50/50 is the most bizarre aspect of this whole thing to me, to be quite honest. Doesn't mean I or anyone else is a "fanboy" of Noel Gallagher, just that we use our inclination and 20 years of history to form an opinion. I got into oasis december 94 & bought every cd they ever released & im still a huge fan & they're still the best band EVER imo. I'll guess your kinda the same as me,been through the 90's reading all the articles etc... i disagree about the liam thing though,if he was that bad why do all past member still get on with him? when it's between him & noel ... i think noel obviously will argue his case with him but liam most probably is the more violent out the 2 of em. Also if liam had walked out gem & andy would've stuck ewith noel i guarantee it. I think Gem should join noel to be honest.
