He shouldn't be. Liam's mostly known for Oasis, just like Ashcroft is mostly known for The Verve.
I can see how it might be a little annoying because they've both moved on, but it's really not something he should make a big deal about regardless.

anyways, i like The Verve a lot. what happened to them? they came out with Love is Noise and i didn't hear from them again. i thought they had reformed but i guess Ashcroft's doing his solo thing now?

I don't think he should be.
The reason they do it is to promote the artists not diminish them. Many people don't know the names of all the singers that sing songs that they like.
It might make people sit up and say," I love that song...maybe I won't flip away from Jimmy yet."
With Liam it's a little different since he didn't have much to do with the early hits that will be the ones that Jimmy would reference. But that won't matter because anyone that doesn't know LG is the lead singer of Oasis also won't know that he didnt write the songs.

They did Forth! And then they broke up again for his shitty new album.
And I thought it was a little odd Fallon did that, but he is a genuine guy and loves good music. It can only be good to spread that word that Beady Eye is an off-shoot of Oasis, especially in America.

I think this time is for real since McCabe said that Forth was just a promotion for the Richard's solo career(who had one or two remaining solo records with parlophone), a pity since i loved Forth and the only worth song of Ashcroft solo carrer was A Song for the Lovers

like i said, the song he did on Jimmy Fallon was nothing special but it was nice to see him doing his thing on stage. Unlike Liam, his voice hasn't changed much. Also unlike Oasis with TSOTL, The Verve actually got some serious airtime on Vh1 with the Love is Noise video.

Basically, for some artists (especially solo ones), the Roots ask the artist if he would like to play with them instead of their backing band. Because the Roots are THAT damn talented at playing anything. And a lot of times the artist agrees to it.

You should all look into the Roots, they really have some fantastic stuff if you're into that scene.

The Verve reformed, released one very average album then split again. They made a fortune on tour though.
Who the fuck is Jimmy Fallon and The Roots?

Who the fuck is Jimmy Fallon and The Roots? jimmy fallon is the guy who took over conan o'brien's old show. and in his defense in his introduction for ashcroft, not many americans know richard ashcroft's name. the introduction only helped him out. the roots are his house band, and one of the best hip-hop groups ever. seriously.

How I Got Over one of my favorite 2010 albums, great stuff. Friendly Fires were on Fallon last night and they killed it!
And I like Forth, I think it's better then average, though not a patch on their first three.

The Roots have one of THE best and hottest drummers in the music industry at the moment. they're not just a "house band". they just won a couple of grammys(to add to their total). Jimmy Fallon is a talk show host and also an actor. He did that move "Fever Pitch" with Drew Barrymore which i really enjoyed. How do you not know this?

Yeah, it's unfortunate that The Roots haven't really found much success outside of America (and, even then, they're still very underrated here).

Even though The Roots are American, they still perform and tour internationally. There's no excuse to not know them.
