choose if you want or add new reasons
1) the influence of Steve Lillywhite instead of dave sardy regarding a new style of singing
2) absence of his brother the boss noel reduce pressure
3) stop smoking a lot and carry a healthy life
4) he´s getting old and mature
5) the songs fits better on his range of vocals
6) all of them

They are doing the vocals first and when they were with oasis vocals were one of the last things(if not the last) to record.

None of the above.
7.) He's singing and not shouting.

I think it's that the music is tailored around his voice instead of him singing over a bunch of people doing their thing.
Noel's guitar was the conductor of Oasis...Liam's voice is the conductor of BDI.

It's the way he's "singing", it's just different from what he used to do with oasis. go back and check out videos of the gigs, he always sang with his front lip covering his upper teeth, i always wondered why Now he's allowing himself to project more by how he "opens his mouth" maybe im just talking a bunch of nonsense here, idk...

Hmm yea he was showing a lot of teeth..but he did that at glastonbury 2004, and we all know how that turned out. My verdict on his voice is that the first few gigs will be great and then he will go downhill just like the DOYS tour.

I think its a few things:
-the new songs are centered around his voice, rather than the rent-a-singer approach
-the new songs are recent, capturing his voice as it is. He's not doing songs written in 1993 where the comparison is very apparent
-he's playing in intimate settings, not shouting to tens of thousands of people in a stadium
-his 'pose' has softened a little bit, maybe eases up on the vocal cords
-he's looking after his health a lot more, it seems
-he's generally happier

I believe the answer lies in the fact that Beady Eye need to prove themselves as a band and that he cant sit on the fact that Oasis were a big band..and it didnt matter how he sounded..I mean seriously 2006 campo de polo wtf was that..yes we know DOYS world tour was good but dyou what I mean
especially at gigs Beady Eye have to prove themselves they dont have tunes like supersonic, CS or live forever and dare i say it wonderwall were everyone in the world it seems knows the words
you put all that in the mix and the shit like hes happier..probably looking after the old health slightly better ( still smoking..so hes not Chris Martin)
Im happy that hes holding the notes..its probable that Liam would take advice form Gem and Andy ( whom are more likely to read these words type in fan forums ) and said the fans want you to 'sing' better man
I believe he'd take this on board better than say Noel saying it to him..
Im trying to say 2 things here
1) He has to try cos Beady Eye are new..dont have the hit tunes..and he wants to make it happen in a good way
2) Someone may have had a gentle word in his ear..played back some live performances and said..look pal do I have to say it..you gotta do something about your voice mate

he had to know his voice was an issue, he's not stupid. In fact i think i read an interview where he touched on the subject, saying "hey im not 19 anymore" or something along those lines.

I think your referring to the 2002 Noel and Liam interview..BBC radio Gary Crowley Im not 21 comment..to which he was on about performing certain (live) songs

They said in a recent interview they listed the things which had gone wrong with Oasis in the end. And that everyone could mention any thing they thougt of and they would change it. I'm sure Liam's singing style was one of them. And they really want to prove themselves & be better than Oasis, be the biggest band in the world again. Their enthousiasm seems endless. And, also important, he's enjoying it again!
Good thing as well that they build the reccord up around Liams voice. Major improvement from Oasis. It was Gem and Andy that suggested to do so.

I thought at the end of the Dig out your soul tour his voice was excellent. When i watched Oasis at Wembley Stadium he was on fire, great voice and great atmosphere to the whole concert.
From what you read/hear hes just been more healthy, no cigs or heavy nights drinking and has been jogging etc. I've always loved the 'Liam stance' but it cant do his throat that much good. Glad hes not pulling away from the mic too quickly either as that ruined some songs previously.
But its happy days, a great album, decent reviews and Liams sounding better than ever. Good times

That pulling away from the mic thing..I think a lot of older oasis songs
despite what he said
the passion for singing cigs and alcohol for the umpteenth time would get laborious this could have something to do with that particular point

Noel is no longer there to sabotage him by drowning him out at sound checks.

Wow.. how did he do this? Its a pleasure to listen to like this.. Maybe it has something to do with the monitors. In the Oor magazine he said he often had to shout to get above the the guitars and drums. Maybe here everything was balaced out correctly..

I think for the first time in his life he's actually concerned about his voice... I've seen him saying in the past that Oasis would never do a bad gig cos' the fans would always be excited about seeing them...
Now, that is gone. Liam is in a brand new band that already started with everyone saying "it will never be as good as Oasis". So I believe he's actually worried about sounding as good as he can.
But of course, I still think we might hear the Kermit again when the tour starts....

He realised that everyone was talking bad about his live voice through the last 7 years.

The songs are easier to sing and within his range. Nothing more than that.
The Roller for example, aside from one line in the second half of the song (everything is reeeal, E above middle C) the highest note is a C#. Even Songbird goes higher than that with a D.
Something like Morning Glory goes as high as a G above middle C. The very first word is a G! Just way out of his range these days. No wonder he couldn't really sing it anymore.
Having said that, Three Ring Circus goes up to an F in the chorus and he sounds great on it. So yeah, interesting. Maybe he just needs to stay below F#. Shame we'll never hear him sing Oasis songs anymore though. I'm really intrigued now.

we shouldnt rule out the fact that he may have had surgery on his throat. it was suggested a few years back that due to the strain of his singing style and his lifestyle, he had something wrong with his vocal chords (nodules?) perhaps he's got it sorted because he's sounding a lot purer and at ease with his vocal on DGSS

But surely in this day and age a tabloid would have found that out and reported it....?
