The Belgian magazine "Humo" has an interview with Beady Eye in their newest issue, but they also have put online 5 clips of the docu about Beady Eye! I know there is already another topic covering this, but I think the clips 3, 5 & 6 are new + I'll try to update this topic with the interview here tomorrow! www.humo.be/tws/deze-week/21799-3/liam-gallagher-beady-eye-het-eerste-grote-interview-na-de-split.htmlEdit: Youtube vids of the new clips Thanks to IcebreathSmall part of the interview below, good training for my English translation skills ;-) Oasis: what kind of ridiculous name is that?
Next week “Different Gear, Still Speeding”, the debut album of Beady Eye, will go on sale. Beady who? Yet another new British band shouldn’t really be a big issue, but it is when their frontman is Liam Gallagher. In fact, Beady Eye is nothing but Oasis minus Noel Gallagher. Excerpt from the interview:Humo: You’re happily married with Nicole Appleton, who was once a singer with All Saints. Can you describe us one scene from “The Gallaghers”, which will show us a Liam like we’ve never seen before?Liam: The missus and me always watch some stupid television show “Family Fortunes”. She always guesses everything correctly, and I’m always wrong. I go jogging every morning. I call my mother at least one time a day. And I love my kids. I take them to school every day. Every day! Fuck, I’m always a normal person, it surprises me! Humo: You all have kids. What does a musician, who hasn’t studied for itself, wasted a lot of time and was addicted to alcohol and other drugs to a kid that doesn’t want to make its homework? Liam: I tell my kids that there are millions of other who did the same thing as me, but aren’t Liam Gallagher. Or even worse: who aren’t around anymore at all. Someone who died of an overdoses can’t repeat it. (dryly) Because he’s dead. Gem: Never give up. Don’t ask too much, or else they’ll choose someone else. And wing it – because you’ll competitors will do the same. That’s the advice I give to my son. Liam: I'm fookin' completely winging it, mate. In all formats! (laughter) Andy: And work hard. Because everybody seems to forget that. I think I’ve worked at least 3 times as much as, let’s say, an accountant. My moto is: “be good to rock 'n' roll, and rock 'n' roll will be good to you.” Gem: (dryly) You know where that quote is from? It’s from Phil Spector. Yeah man, he’s come far. How long has he been in jail? 94 years or so?

Cheers man, them clips are cool.
Everything sounds so positive and that version of Beatles & Stones (I think that was the tune) sounds mega. I think live they will absolutely go for it.

All it is going to be is a bunch of Beatles covers right?

All it is going to be is a bunch of Beatles covers right? Most probably. But they could do a 'Soundtrack-EP' or something like that, would be great

All it is going to be is a bunch of Beatles covers right? Not putting Beatles songs in the film I dont think as its about Apple Records in general. So I think Beady Eye are writing and recording an album, with even more 60's and 70's influences involved and having that as a soundtrack.

Yep, I think I read somewhere when they asked Liam if there were going to be Beatles songs on the movie, he said: "No man, that would be to fuckin' expensive." or something. So my guess is that it are defenitely going to be Beady Eye songs.

What I got out of that was that they weren't going to put the actual Beatles recordings on there, but cover them and put the covers on instead to avoid paying the royalties. I know nothing about royalties though so maybe they would still have to pay them with the covers and my theory would make no sense.

I read the interview, it's a really "different" interview, a bit weird. Liam is very nervous, and the interviewer doesn't seem the biggest Oasis fan, (even though I don't think he really dislikes them either) and mostly he isn't really impressed by Liam's "insults" or jokes.
Anyway, I'll see if I can be arsed to translate it, because it's actually a rather long interview. For the first time Liam really doesn't want to talk about Noel. But than at the end the interviewer shows Liam some photo's about Noel and Liam having fun together , in the good old days. Liam of course doesn't appreciate this: "What the...?!!! Did you really searched for those photo's, you sentimental fool? Is this wank-material for you?" etc..
A few situations to give you an impression of the banality of the interview at some places: (When the interviewer arrives, he describes that Liam is really impatatient) Liam: (I wasn't even seeted yet) First question, quickly! Interviewer: (to the others) I'm only here 5 seconds and he already wants to crush my balls... Liam: What's your favorite Beady Eye song? Interviewer: Eeerm.... Liam: Faster! Okay, you get one last chance to ask that first question, quickly!
(talking about a leaked memo of "The Who" manager Kit Lambert who thought the "Why don't you just f-f-f-f-fade away" from Roger Daltrey was a mistake.)
Liam: This proves what I always tell to everyone: instinct is the most important thing. Write that down! Interviewer: Eerm, this conversation is recorded Liam, the recorder is right there. Liam: I don't care, write it down!!
And when the interviewer asks if Lilywhite shared any experiences with them about working with Morrisey, Talking Heads, Stones, U2, etc... Liam says: Steve has hemorrhoids, the poor man. Did you know that? Little known fact. Write that down!

No, I'm at my student room in Antwerp, I don't have a scanner here... You can buy it for 2.6 euros in any newspaperstore though ;-) The interview is a 10 minute read or something, so it's going to take a while to translate! Maybe in little parts if I'm bored this week.
