Just heard TKOL. And I love it. I really think that's ahead of its time. Some of the songs on there like Lotus Flower, Little By Little, Codex, and Give Up The Ghost are really good.
Does DGSS have more energy, yep. But if you're listening to Radiohead to give you energy, then you prob shouldn't be listening to Radiohead. There are about 4 genius tracks on TKOL, there's 3 really good tracks on DGSS. Both good albums, but in terms of music and lyrics, Radiohead. BDI only have them beat when it comes to energy.
I'll take great tracks with genius, over tracks with energy any day. Because at some point the energy wears off, and then I realize that the songs that I like were only passable. That's just imo.
Energy does not always equal a good song, gloominess does not automatically equal a bad song.

I'v listened to TKOL and don't see the genius, that maybe my taste, but each to their own. Would rather have another Beady Eye LP than a Radiohead one, as the Radiohead one does nothing to me.
I listened to Lotus Flower and and it didn't pull on any of my emotions, it was just kinda there.
Each to their own but I don't get all the Radiohead love. Like some of there songs but some of them are just meh!

I wouldn't say its ahead of its time if anything its not particulary different to some of there other work in recent years, the difference being how morbidly dull it is in places.
Lotus flower is a tune though, love the vid too. A couple of the others are decent too.

respect to radiohead. probably the greatest band ever , even if my fav band is Oasis.
we need good releases , we need great albums by the strokes , arctic monkeys , REM , Kasabian , The Horrors , The Wild Beasts , Panda Bear , Fleet Foxes etc. 2011 is gonna be a special year for indie/alternative music. unless we prefer the fascism of hip-pop...

Next time someone says they love Radiohead I can't wait to say: "You know ... they're just way to mainstream for me. It's simply music made for the chin scratching masses. I prefer way less commercial stuff like Beady eye ... have you heard of them?" I promise you their heads will explode. The lotus flower video has 1,5 million views in 3 days......game over, hahaha and seriously it is outrageous to compare these two.You can compare their new albums but nothing else....

Radiohead have more songwriting talent in their collective little toes than Liam, Gem and Andy.
But the music doesn't do a lot for me. I like a lot of their songs individually but I couldn't listen to a whole album all the way through, it just kinda bores me. I respect that they are a good band though.

I don't get it. Radiohead released Kid A and peoples minds exploded. WTF? It was a rock band, who made an electronic album. It wasn't groundbreaking.

I think TKOL is Radiohead's downfall, but it's only my opinion.

I think TKOL is Radiohead's downfall, but it's only my opinion. As long as Pitchfork survives, Radiohead will never downfall.

Radiohead...don't get me fuckin' started. I used to be a crazy fucker on this forum once, and I've mellowed, but not mellowed in the sense of liking Radiohead. Don't get me wrong, I don't want the fuckers to die, but they look so fuckin' boring. How can anyone have a good time listening to them? Fuckin' rotten.

And thanks for offering your opinion as fact.

^^Anyone equiped with google can find any band's worst lyrics. Shit, I can find bad lyrics by anyone of the Beatles, but that does not make them bad lyricists.
They always have the potential to make great lyrics, and at time they do. BDI does not have the same potential.

THIS "Whilst Thom Yorke has enclosed himself in a white sphere with a pen filled with unicorn blood trying to figure out new ways to fuck with people's minds, Liam Gallagher is merely delivering to audiences what they want; exciting catchy tunes."Not my words, just read it somewhere.. But I agree

This doesn't even make sense, so I won't discuss it. I just ask you to please not diss TKOL. It is, in my opinion, a perfect album. Just perfect from top to bottom. Didn't like it on first listen, kept listening, then made sense of it. Each song is a marvel, layers upon layers of sonic bliss. It's not... It's different. That's all,

Ok ok!!!...after having a further look into their words...they are deep and i guess automatically better lyrically than alot of bands like bdi.But what still remains is that their songs are lifeless and unexcitable!!.listening to their music while reading the lyrics, i can't help to think "how the hell can i get into this"?....so i wasted not a second more on them!!

The music is meant to be a bit lifeless. Like I said earlier, if you're looking for energy and excitement, then Radiohead is clearly not for you. But that doesn't make them a bad band, or not a great band. They are an amazing band. Their music is made to be a bit lifeless. Thats the reason Thom Yorke sings the way he does, its the reason the music is dark. Its meant to be all those things.
