Just finished to the new Radiohead record straight through. You can do so here: pitchfork.com/news/41623-radiohead-album-available-now/. I'm a huge fan of the early stuff and love a few songs from In Rainbows (especially Reckoner and 15 Step) but ... this record is just way to out there for me. The songs that I do like succeed only because they've created such a gloomy atmosphere that hearing a major chord is like a revelation. It's like walking through a desert and having a drink of water ... i'd rather avoid the entire experience. In terms of the critics ... I think they are just afraid to say what they feel. I really don't think they even know what a good Radiohead song is anymore. No wonder they love ripping Oasis/Beady Eye when they get a chance ... they are such an easy target by comparison. Anyhow, back to listening to Beady Eye.

I must admit I am completely mesmerised by the video for Lotus Flower. Thom Yorke is an amazing man

I don't think these two bands should really be represented in the same sentence.
But I do admit that Radiohead have fallen off the rails lately, and that Beady Eye are much more exciting and enjoyable right now.
Whilst Thom Yorke has enclosed himself in a white sphere with a pen filled with unicorn blood trying to figure out new ways to fuck with people's minds, Liam Gallagher is merely delivering to audiences what they want; exciting catchy tunes.
But kudos to them both, its good to have such polar opposites in the music world.

I tried to listen to Radiohead. I really have. But those vocals are so dreary and dull. No thanks.

Radiohead are a better band than Beady Eye, i dont think you can dispute that. HOWEVER DGSS is a much better record than TKOL, and well this is just my opinion but also any other Radiohead album since OK computer, all their post OK Computer stuff just doesnt do anything for me.

'In rainbows' is an amazing album and shits on anything oasis put out in the last 10 years in my opinion. I know a lot of people dont like them but to me I think they have only got better with time. I still love Oasis more though, I still get way more excited about a new oasis related realease for some reason, I havent downloaded radioheads new album yet but did with the DGSS the min it leaked.

I like Kid A and Amnesiac, but after 10 years of releasing the same album I've lost interest.

I agree with an earlier statement. I like Radiohead quite a bit but I am more into the "catchy tunes" that BDI is giving us.
And all those people that bitch and moan about 2000+ era Oasis should do the same about Radiohead. If anyone is guilty about not releasing great albums since their 90s work, it's them. They're very good albums but nothing along par with TB or OKC.

I like Kid A and Amnesiac, but after 10 years of releasing the same album I've lost interest. This. Radiohead had some good albums, theyve completely copped out now. All their new album amounts to is hitting a few buttons on a csio keyboard and moaning over the top. Oasis get slagged for releasing the same thing and this is exactly the same. Bullshit.

Radiohead are a better band than Beady Eye, i dont think you can dispute that. If you're talking of Nineties Radiohead then maybe not, but this shit they've been putting out for 10 years means I can absolutely say Beady Eye are a better band.

I'll take BDI over current Radiohead any day of the week, as well. BTW, Stemot...how have you been? This is that dude from the USA that you used to see every now and then online. Hope all is well with you! :-)

Radiohead as a band are with no doubt superior. BUT, given a choice between the two albums I'd take DGSS anytime. Very underwhelmed with KOTL tbh. Feels like a Thom Yorke solo record, which isn't a good thing really. DGSS at least has soul, you can really feel they've enjoyed making it and somehow it reflects on the listener. 3rd favourite album of 2011 so far, right after Yuck and Dye It Blonde.

I don't like Radiohead. Even in the electronic genre there are a lot of better alternatives. Their new album doesn't even sound interesting: songs like Give Up The Ghost make you fall asleep? At least BE has got the balls to put in proper melodies.

The first 4 songs on Radioheads new album are really really bad. Very very disappointing effort.

And yes, the Beady Eye album is way better.
Why compare Radiohead to Beady Eye anyhow? Compare Radiohead against Oasis.

I honestly don't know what anyone sees in Radiohead ! To me they are dull, boring and depressing which in my books equals shit. Beady Eye are much more exciting with catchy rockers and top notch ballads !

The new RD album is really boring, only liked give up the ghosts.
Lotus flower, little by little and separator are passable, but the rest is mumbling shit IMO.

Expect Pitchfork to fawn all over the new Radiohead album, declaring it the most important album since Sgt Pepper, overrating it to a huge extent, Thom Yorke is greater than God, etc.
They've had a few good moments since Kid A, like Pyramid Song for example, but it takes nothing away from the fact that they are insufferably dull these days.
