It's funny cause i've almost hated every one of his songs from the get go (except for the Roller which I thought was OK). Even on Oasis records they were the ones that I already skipped. After a WHILE I started to love them. A Bell Will Ring would be a great example as now its definitely one of my favorite songs of DBTT. Of course right off the bat I'm not a fan of Three Ring Circus, Wind Up Dream and Standing on the Edge of Noise. I'm sure i will "re-discover them" one at a time. Anyhow, the point is never write off Gem's songs until you've had them for a year!

Whats was he like in Heavy Stereo ? any good tunes ? "Deja Voodoo" was a half decent 1990s Britpop album but my favorite song of theirs was "Sleep Freak," which was a stand alone CD-single.

I think he's just a totally different style. Liam's & Andy's offer familarity but Gem's are very out there glam rock songs with usually bizarre track names, bizarre chords and lyrics. So it takes a while to adjust to these.
Theres a few that I don't like of his but the majority I do although not as much as Noel's, Andy's & Liam's. Three Ring Circus got me from the 1st second though, its fantastic.

I'd put The Roller as second best song on DGSS. Other than that, nothing of his really stands out as that good to me.

I like his songs,, melody-wise he's the less gifted from BE, I love The Roller, great track,, and wind up dream and TRC are cool too.
I love Heavy Stereo's Cartoon Moon, think its brilliant.. wish BE had songs like CM.
And A Bell Will Ring and Eyeball Tickler are good... imo.

Cartoon Moon, Mouse In A Hole, Deep Fried Heart, Shooting Star, Chinese Burn and Bangers and Mash are all really decent tunes.

3RC is fantastic imo.....the solos are brill, not been enough of that in recent Oasis!
...and SOTEOTN is actually really good when played through decent speakers (wasn't a fan listening on headphones)

Has anyone else noticed that in Gem's songs in both Oasis and Beady Eye, he struggles to write decent choruses?

Three Ring Circus really grew on me, I loved SOTEOTN from the start but the vocal effects still bug me tbh. Wind Up dream and The Roller both are alright. All of his songs would sound immensely better live I think. Whats was he like in Heavy Stereo ? any good tunes ? Check out Cartoon Moon and Smiler on youtube. My two favourite tracks of theirs.

Three Ring Circus is forced and uninspired like most of his songs....not bad,but definitely not great.....the thing that bugs me,is that he is all attitude and positive talking, but in 10 years,he still hasn't written anything exceptional....at least liam has written 3 really good songs in Born on a Different Cloud,I'm Outta Time and Boy with the Blues, which in my opinion are better than any gem effort so far.......
