He's only gone and written the 3 best songs on the album: Four letter word, Kill for a dream (didn't like it at first, thought it was a bit cheesy but it has massively grown on me and I friggin love it now) and The beat goes on which is a undisputable classic. What a talent that spaniel-lookin' chap is

Lyla's outro is amazing Nice thing that others like it, but the long outro is the pure reason for my Lyla hate. It would have been much better if it faded out imo. |

For me, Andy Bell consistently wrote the weakest songs on Oasis albums, and funnily enough, this time around, he's done it again. KFAD and TBGO are pretty bland. FLW is okay though.

You know a lot of fans rate the work that Gem and Andy did in Oasis as weak but personally I have always liked their tunes. I always liked Liams too so Beady Eye for me is an extension of the music I was already a fan of. I dont get all of the bashing, because it doesnt sound like something Noel would write? Who cares, I am here for the music and I appreciate it all no matter who wrote it.
I really like that we are getting a full album of it now because all three of these guys are good song writers. I am also really happy that we are getting 13 tracks, plus great b-sides, and Liam is singing all of it. When was the last time we got this much music out of Liam?
I love Noel and I always will, but he is the one who chose to leave. By the end he had started to sing too many songs in my opinion and I think he was holding the band back in a lot of ways. I also think Beady Eye is making Noel look bad right now because they have really pushed to get something quality out and have captured the Oasis fan base. If Noel waits too long he might miss out on the momentum.

Kill For A Dream is one of the better tracks on the album.
Although it couldn't sound any more like Oasis if it tried, right down to the Noel apeing guitar line.

Andy Bell has really surprised me. I've never been a big fan of his until I heard Millionaire and The Beat Goes On. I wouldn't say he is growing as a songwriter though. The talent was all there I just think he needed some freedom which he never got in Oasis.

I haven't listened to Be Here Now this millennium. You havent listened to DYKWIM, SBM, DGA, etc in the last 11 years? What is wrong with you? Can't take the production, mate. Makes my ears bleed. I occasionally listen to the acoustic Stand By Me performed by the pool and the Don't Go Away from the David Letterman show so it's not a knock on the songs. Oh, also Noel's Don't Go Away from his acoustic tour. Love that. |
