I've listened to DGSS a couple of times and it's not bad, some good tunes and by no means the disaster it could have been.
One thing though... for all of the rock 'n' roller hard man routine Liam does - does anyone else think that the music he makes is a bit, well, pussyish?
You read/see the interviews and then hear the music he makes... and it doesn't really match up.
I'm not calling Liam a complete bitch, but his tunes going as far back as SOTSOG do veer close to acoustic hippiedom...

The album is definitely not rock'n'roll. The only rock''roll-ish songs are Four Letter Word and Beatles and Stones (in my opinion).

Considering Liam said the album would be pure rock 'n' roll and that Oasis would be pop compared to BDI, it is indeed surprising how poppy the album is. Thing is, Liam's rockers are usually boring, while his slower songs are more exceptional.

I agree...I think Liam is in a bit of denial about the album he's made.
He wants to present himself as all rock 'n roll and that Noel was getting all soft.
Noel may never have been a rock in terms of persona...but he could write a belting rock tune to the end better than anyone else in the band. He was a rock as Liam...just in a different way.

...and we're circling back to the whole Wibbling Rivalry interview, aren't we?
Rock & Roll as lifestyle versus Rock & Roll as music....

Liam is full of shit. He moans about the way Oasis was towards the end but he didn't do anything about it at the time. He resigned himself to being second fiddle. His choice, ultimately.

the thing is the majority of the Beatles material was also mostly ballads & pop rock, there was never a guitars to eleven non stop rock out beatles album at least not one cover to cover & thats the main influence with Liam, Andy & Gem so it's no suprise that DGSS leans more torwards the old school softer side

DGSS isn't pop.
DGSS is psychedelia.
Simple.

Just because you don't agree with the material in the topic does not make it retarded.

DGSS isn't pop. DGSS is psychedelia. Simple. There are psychedelic moments...but I wouldn't even say half of it is.

There's no way you can call it a psychedelic.... There's barley anythng psychedelic. Andy's wah wah outro on FLW might be as psychedelic as it gets...

For what it is, DGSS is pretty good... however... He slags off other bands like Coldplay etc for making wimpy music, struts around pretending to be a hard man in interviews, then he makes a pretty ball-less album.

Is there really even any "rock n roll" bands out now? With all of its sub genres, rock IMO is almost dead.

The album has balls, soul and is rock ...end of thread

What? Yeah, I'd like to hear coldplay playing songs like FLW, Three Ring Circus or SOTEOTN All in all, it's a very balanced album. Rare to find nowadays. You got great rockers featuring guitar riffs full of attitude, you got mid-tempo songs, and you got ballads. Just listen to WTSMG and you'll only hear 3 rockers! THREE! Nothing wrong with that.
