Yeah - America is the pits. TBH, Canada still has it going on...The Hip, Sloan, Blue Rodeo - not necessarily the coolest bands, but they are all guitar rock - or rock and roll. No what also bugs me? THere are really cool non-rock bands here in the USA like Passion Pit. But we dont ever hear them on the radio - just Katie Parry saying that we are all Fireworks.... except america has the best music scene in the world right now.

Back in 1996 when I was livin in London, we were all one. We had a ralling cry. Cool Britianna etc - and Oasis fit perfectly. Now the pub culture is dying, british rock is a dying beast. Kids are not into being british anymore - they want imported garbage or british versions of imported garbage...Jessie J. Beady Eye is for us dying breed...the british rock music fan! Yeah and it was always sunny aswell WTF? You've been watching too many documentaries with Alan McGhee in pal

I live in the USA...the music scene is shit. But if you all want to listen to a great recent album by an American band, I suggest "Softly Towards The Light" by The Black Hollies (they're from New Jersey).

Sadly, the american music scene is way better than the british atm. Arcade Fire, Black Keys, MGMT, The National, Vampire Weekend, Kanye West, Kings of Leon (last album) are all really good and have all delivered great albums the past years. Bet The Strokes new album will be mega too. Too few british bands can match them. Got high hopes for Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys and Coldplay though.

England has changed.
We used to have a smiling idiot in charge making up policies on the fly, fucking up our national services and screwing the average citizen out of their hard earned money, but now we've got -- wait a minute.

I don't know about "scene", but we definitely have the most quality bands, in my opinion.

This is the second time I'm asking you for suggestions, sorry if I'm getting annoying, but I only know a handful of current bands and most of them are from the UK.. So a couple of names would be great since I loved most of the albums you gave me last time. Thanks.

All right, well I'm beat and want to get some sleep, but I'd say check out a band called the Rosewood Thieves. They released an EP called From The Decker House that is fantastic. There's a lot of stuff I like from all sorts of styles, but they've got kind of a backwoods Beatles type feel at times. Really cool band.

England has changed but so has everywhere. It's all about Tinie Tempah, NDuz, JLS and all that other RnB stuff in the charts now. But who cares about the charts anyway - they've always been shit aside from when "scenes" like Britpop come along and give the impression that "pop" music's good again!
It's the alternative scene that really matters and there are a lot of good records out there but you need to look for them rather than be fed them. On the face of it, bands here at the moment seem to be more about how tight their their trousers are, how asymmetrical their hair is or how many keyboards you can squeeze in around an "angular" guitar riff. Hardly any one plays chords anymore and people hardly write good old fashioned songs anymore but that doesn't mean it's all bad - just different.
The Fly's review of DGSS is indicative of the times we're in and they weren't actually just trying to be controversial by saying the album's dull. It's just not their bag and a lot of the indie press will feel the same. Bands like Sky Larkin, Frightened Rabbit, Joy Formidable, Foals, Cloud Nothings, Villagers, Go Team and Detroit Social Club will never hit the charts and therefore never be known to people who don't invest time in listening to proper music. I'm perfectly happy with this because it means less morons at gigs wanting the big singles and smaller gigs for the real fans which also means cheaper tickets!

I'm from Washington. To be honest, the vast majority of Britpop bands were atrocious. Thats not to say music nowadays is fantastic mind. I don't think Britain has changed that much, other than that the underclass have taken over. The reason why pubs are dying on their arses is because of the smoking ban and the recession.
