Anyone here this album is just OK?
I like some of the songs, but I can't believe people are saying "The Beat Goes On" is a masterpiece etc. It's so twee.
I think Four Letter Word, The Morning Son, Kill for a Dream and Millionaire are very good.
SOTEOTN and Beatles and Stones are worse than terrible (I prefer Better Man and AGN).
The rest of the tracks are basically average.
Anyone agree?
I'm not trying to put a downer on anyone's elses positive opinion, I'm just wondering if there are many on the forum who aren't too impressed (therefore won't be buying a concert ticket etc).

I somewhat agree. I don't think it's a masterpiece, but I think its above average.

I somewhat agree. I don't think it's a masterpiece, but I think its above average. I think the album as a whole is average, but there are stand out tracks i.e. Kill for a Dream. Really, really like this one.

What are you talking about? What's stupid? asking "does anyone else think an album is average". no, course not. then why would they call it an "average"?

I think the OP is spot on. It's an ok or good album. A masterpiece? No, it's not and you're kidding no one nut yourself if you think it's a classic.

Weird, Kill for a dream is okay, but does nothing special to me. As Morning Son, For Anyone, Beat Goes on, Wigwam, Millionaire did touch me. Every body's entitled to their own opinion of course We need to be honest here though. When Oasis split up, no one had high hopes. If the album was better than the best non-noel output from Oasis (i.e. an album with SB, KTDA, BWTB, BOADC, TUTS, etc...) we would've been happy. Turns out it is A LOT better than anything the 3 ever did in Oasis. Is it an all-time classic? Probably not. But is it "just okay"? No, I think it's rather really good. Better than the post-2000 albums (as an album, the post-2000 albums did have better standout tracks). Never hoped the album would've been this good.

What are you talking about? What's stupid? asking "does anyone else think an album is average". no, course not. then why would they call it an "average"? That makes no sense. If you think about school on an A-F scale, C is average. How many people do you know who got C's in school? A hell of a lot. That would mean they did average in the class. If he thinks the album is not bad or good, but just sort of in the middle, then its average to him. No need to call anyone stupid.

I think it's solid enough. Not a masterpiece by any means, but decent enough.
Four Letter Word, The Roller, Kill For A Dream and The Morning Son are my favourites on first listen. I doubt the rest will get much of a listen in comparison to Oasis, but theres only Bring The Light, Beatles and Stones and Three Ring Circus that I really dislike.
With the last few Oasis albums I think we were all hoping (though not expecting) that they'd find their spark again and we'd get another Definitely Maybe. At least there were no expectations for DGSS so we can judge it objectively.

It may not be a masterpiece but it's also not just "ok". Very good and solid album!

I think its pretty far from average and there is lots thats truely great...its quite simply a better album than all Oasis attempts since 1997 (notice I said album, not that Oasis didn't put some fantastic songs out in the recent era) ...can't understand the negativity of some, its a really fresh album with great melody and spirt and none of the plodding of recent Oasis!

Completely agree with your album statement. Some people on here are saying the best on here don't match up with the best on Oasis albums and while that may be true, an album is made up of more than just 2 or 3 songs. There is more to SOTSOG than just GLIO and GP! and there's more to Heathen Chemistry than just SCYHO and Songbird. Even if I thought those few songs on SOTSOG and HC were better than the best on DGSS, I still think DGSS is a better collection of songs than either of those two.

Top to bottom, this album is better than the following: - Standing on the Shoulder of Giants - Heathen Chemistry - Don't Believe the Truth
This album is better than just OK.
What we should all be taking away from is that Beady Eye can write great rock n roll songs in a collaborative environment, which is a good thing. The real test will be when they go on tour

Yes, I feel it's nothing outstanding, I like it cause Oasis is one of my favourite bands, but I would probably don't if I wasn't a fan. There are some great songs though

You wouldn like this music if the band had different members than the Oasis members? Seriously, the music is great! It's rock 'n' 'roll! It's what Oasis was in the 90's. How can you not like that? And it's even more ridiculous to just like a band because of the members if you don't like the music..

DM and WTSMG were classics. Beady Eye would never reach those heights. But they can be proud in knowing that their effort holds up against some of Oasis' other successful releases. This album is certainly above average. And while the first half of the album has more filler, it's not really bad. BTL is different and light, BaS is fun and catchy.
This is the type of album (regarding the vibe) that should have followed DBTT. Don't get me wrong, I dig DOYS, but these types of fresh songs would have made more sense coming right after DBTT, and I guess it's one of the reasons why I equate DGSS to DBTT.

I think it's a solid album, but certainly not amazing. Some tracks I really like, others I just don't see the appeal. Overall it's good, but certainly no masterpiece.

The album is solid, but lacks the real hits that drive bands to popularity. It will hardly get a sniff stateside, because it lacks the hits, but i think it is good solid music. Loving it!
