Songbird might just be his best song ever.

For anyone. Songbird is great, it is(/was ) one of Liam's finest. Both are really simple but touching love songs. But SB is a bit too simple I think. FA did more to me than SB. I remember when I got into Oasis, I read that SB was Liam's best song. I listened to it, but was a bit dissapointed. I instantly loved For Anyone =D

Depends if it's the electric demo of songbird or the album version. For Anyone is better than the album Songbird, but the electric demo is (IMO) one of the finest Oasis tunes.

I never really liked Songbird tbh. Yeah, it's kind of an usual Oasis track, but I just don't like the song's overall feeling. For Anyone is really, really great and shows how good Liam can be as a songwriter.

For Anyone. For Anyone and Wigwam were the only tracks that really stood out to me. For Anyone is complete songwriting, while Songbird (as sweet as it is), is unfinished.

very similar song imo. the way they're structured and everything and even though Songbird is at this point an Oasis classic, For Anyone is simply a better tune

Am I the only one who thinks For Anyone is super super shit? The vocals and melody is just really cheesy and I can't stand listening to it. It sounds like a kids' song.

But I still like the song. I also think the chorus to The Beat Goes On has a kids song type feel to it but I still love it. When I first heard the previews I didn't think I would like For Anyone because of Liam's voice but I am used to the falsetto now i guess

On first listen I didn't like it. On second listen I couldn't make it all the way through. Vocals are terrible and it's super cheesy. Songbird by a mile for me...not to mention Liam can actually sing Songbird live. No way he's singing For Anyone live.

I like For Anyone, but Songbird is miles beyond. It's Liam's sweetest, and most melancholy, song ever. It manages to contain a number of contradictory emotions in a handful of chords and a couple of minutes. It also has a country-jazz feeling that is COMPLETELY different from any other Oasis song, let alone single. It's a standout song that's only risen in my estimation since 2002.

I'll have to listen again later, but I'm 99% sure it's not falsetto.

I love both - Songbird was a standout track for me on HC and For Anyone is a standout, too. I agree For Anyone sounds more complete, so it wins the tie.

Songbird is more simple, but it's also more specific - clearly a targeted love song. For Anyone is obviously more interesting with more things going on and a better developed melody talking in generalities.
I picked For Anyone. That melody is simply beautiful.

It's really tough to compare one of Oasis' classics (already, in my book) that was released 9 years ago, with a song I just heard last night.
For Anyone may well beat Songbird in the long run, but in this moment I really can't compare.
