In "Robin's news" she mentioned the Gallagher brothers and how Liam said he would listen to Noel's solo album when it comes out and that he is in a new band Beady Eye. Howard responded with how they are irrelevant and where are they're careers and who cares.

I'm a fan of the Stern show, but a little bit disappointed to hear that Howard said that. The Gallagher brothers are among only a handful of mainstream artists still making proper music nowadays.

It just bothers me that just because Oasis wasn't huge in America means that they were irrelevant. I wish I had a stats list of all the concert tickets, albums sold, #1 songs etc. to throw in peoples faces that think that they have been playing local carnivals for the last 16 years.

I don't even think Oasis reached #1 in America once, especially post 2000. Most of those numbers are inflated by British sales. I wish us Americans had a way of showing that Oasis aren't has beens in America. Oasis will be remembered in America as the band who wrote a couple great songs in the mid 90s. It's sad but ultimately true.

They were really building a new young audiensce in America, and were just starting to reap the benefits of that. Would have been nice to see what they would've done releasing at least 1 more decent album. Maybe even a really good album.

Stern even bashed Letterman on Letterman's own show last week and then called him one of his best friends a minute later. Take it with a grain of salt; it's just his way.

Howard Stern likes Oasis. i used to listen to his show when it was still on fm radio, he's mentioned he liked Oasis several times and Noel's been on the show before. but Howard Stern, like most of the rest of popular american society hasn't heard anything from Oasis in years and probably assumes they're sucking dick for coke or whatever at this point in their careers.

Don't understand how you can say that. So they would have deserved it if they played the game, gone against what they believed in, and sucked up to the American public and corporations just to be relevant here? Nah. Their music should have been enough, and for that musical output they deserved it. America's loss is the rest of the world's gain.

Actual talent has almost nothing to do with commercial success, as I'm sure you well know. If bands got well-known from writing great songs Big Star would be considered the greatest band of the '70s, as they were.

But to say they don't deserve to be successful in the US because they didn't play the game is a wrong assessment in my opinion. We can understand why there weren't too successful, but that doesn't make it right and it doesn't mean their talent didn't deserve it.
