Like I said. To me its not what he said, its how he said it.

And he did call it toe tapping. And he did say it had a "naive charm". Guess the 2 stars came from there.

Where the comparison with DOYS comes from I do not know - it's nothing like that album in ANY sense.

If it's not his cup of tea then the best writers will say that, but good writers are still able to be objective about what other listeners will like.

This reviewer is just being purely negative for the sake of being negative.

I dont think he's comparing the actual sounds. I think he's comparing the feel. I think he's just making the point that to him, both albums were "dull" or flat. That the some of the rockers are poor attempts and fall short, and that some of the ballads are banal.

Which were criticisms (bad attempts at rocking out and being "dull" or flat) that DOYS got.
