It has climbed from #29 to #24 on iTunes in the last 2 hours also. I still feel it may re-peak when the 7" and the B-Side are out. Edit: #23 now

Think the split release has killed any chance of this single getting anywhere near a decent chart position, by the time the next release comes round, it'll probably be in the Top 100, maybe worse. Radio/TV play will be dropping as well, not that it's been hot in the first place.

I'm sticking with my prediction of no. 7!!!!!! lol It does seem ridiculous that they are staggering the release dates though? ?

They're stuck between the old and new ways of releasing singles. The old way is to release the track to radio and TV, give it a few weeks to build, then release. Trouble is, these days people don't want to, and shouldn't, have to wait 6 weeks before being able to legitimately buy a song. So they've rush released a digital release in 2 weeks whilst waiting another 4 weeks to release the same song and a b-side. Sorry, that just isn't going to do anything for chart positions, unless the song is an absolute killer, and the 2nd release helps gives it momentum. Might have worked in the days of buying music from a shop but these days, it's piss easy to steal a radio rip, or even better, something sourced from promotional material.
Songs should be available to buy on the first day of promotion, let TV/Radio play and word of mouth take it's natural course, and see if the song rises up the charts.

I think they are expecting the leak, so they are trying to make as much money as possible.

I think the next single done with full promo is gonna be the big one. People keep raving about TBGO...maybe that will be their true bid for chart success?

The lack of tv/radio promotion suggests that this might not be the "main" single from the album, not one specific interview about the roller seems to be a bit wierd. I think this may be because liam has said on numerous occasions that he isnt bothered about chart positions.
there may be a new realse (TBGO?) closer to the album release date.

It would get higher if: -the song hadnt been available for weeks (everyone that really wants it has just ripped it off youtube) -the b-side wasnt released separately -there was no goddamn vinyl release

They should have put the b-side on iTunes that you could only get if you bought the single EP. B-sides were a big reasons to buy singles when physical releases were still big. But what is the point of buy just a single tune when you know that you are probably going to be buying the album that it is off within the next few weeks.

Hey guys, if the album comes out on the 23rd in Japan when can we realistically expect a leak? And I can't remember the day "Dig out ur soul" leaked but if my mind serves me correct it was like 3-4 days before it was legitimately released...right? I can't remember except for the mayhem on this forum. Lol

That should be how it's done now, has to be really. In this age of illeagal downloads, the ability to rip etc just kills it really. THen again, if you look at the Itunes top 200, songs like Chasing Cars and Mr Brightside are STILL in there which is just wierd, I mean WHO IS BUYING THEM? Surely everyone in the UK already has at least one copy by now!

I'm sure many menbers of this forum haven't bought it for that reason alone. I have, but even then didn't get round to it until yesterday. My web rip was (and still is to be honest) perfectly fine until my cd arrives.

I think this may be because liam has said on numerous occasions that he isnt bothered about chart positions. there may be a new realse (TBGO?) closer to the album release date. Did you ever think that because the Roller is the third song, that thats the reason its not getting as much press. This isnt Oasis were talking about, where everything they release is gonna be big news. This is a new band who is on their debut album. We might just be at a point where we shouldnt expect anyone to write about a BDI release, until the album comes out. Because for some papers it probably just doesnt make sense to keep pumping out reviews for songs, especially when we're on the third song and the album hasnt come out yet. The press for BDI has just plain died down and wont come back up, until the album is released. And I'm sorry, but the Roller has to be the main release/single. They are a new band. How many songs are they really gonna release. Were up to the third right now? Usually an album has 3 official singles. If we dont count the Roller as a single that means were still waiting for 3 more singles. So they're gonna release 6 songs off of a debut album? Wake up. The Roller is a single. Its just a poorly planned release of a single, but it is a single.

Disappointing it was at #28. I mean what is it with the fans ?
Yeah its poorly planned by having the vinyl come out weeks later but as fans surely we should be supporting them and buying this mp3. Is it the 1990's and a cd singles 3 quid ? Nope. Simply click a few times on a site and you have the mp3 for 59p or so and it helps the single climb the charts.
Considering Beady Eye have given me four letter word, even Bring the light and the roller already just 59p or so to show my thanks is nothing.
Yeah singles arent as important nowadays, album sales are still the 'biggie' but would be great to see Beady Eye top 10. Yep 99% of us probably have the mp3 which was ripped from the video but come on, just 59p or 99p to show your appreciation for the band ? Its nothing

^^^ well said, from Oasis to Beady Eye i have always bought what they release to show my support, ive even convinced all my mates to buy it instead of a rip, dont get me wrong i cant resist a leak but i will without a doubt always buy the album in physical form.
Its a sad time that all the shite before Beady Eye is out selling it.

It wouldn't have cost them anything but it would have given eveyone a reason to justify buying a digital single instead of trying to get us to pay for exactly the same product TWICE because "we are fans." We are fans but they shouldn't expect up to be chumps...particularly since Liam has been patting BDI on the back for giving us proper b-sides. But then he isn't making them available to 99% of us except illegally. For all the flak about the DOYS b-sides @ least I could buy the one original b-side on DOYS legally and support my favorite band without feeling like I was being taken advantage of. I will gladly get my hand in my pocket for the album but I work hard for my money and if someone can give me a compelling reason why I should pay a dollar to a group of millionaires for a product that I am going to have to purchase again on a product for 10-15 dollars in about a month...I'd like to hear it.

Can you really pay too much attention to the charts though?
I mean look at most of the crap that gets in the top ten. Wouldnt care if the single wasnt even in the top 100 tbh.
Its a great tune, i like it, nuff said.
It'd be nice for the band to have a top ten hit yeah but its modern times boys and girls and success cannot be judged based on positions in the charts anymore.

Well the money for singles i'm sure isnt much for Liam and co being multi millionaires, its more the fact of just getting the single higher on the charts. For the sake of 59p (When i've already got 3 songs from Beady eye) its just like a little nod of appreciation. I got the Roller the second it was on youtube, 4 weeks later i'm buying it from itunes as a small 'thanks'. But yeah good point about the b side. That does annoy me, i'm a loyal fan, i havent got a frickin record player, would have loved to buy the cd singles for my collection though. But the only way to get this b side is to wait for an 'illegal' copy. See i'm trying to be legal, make it on itunes and bump the price up to say 99p or so and i'll be buying it for sure. But the only way for me to get that b side is to wait for a download. Pain. But i'm still over the moon, cant wait for the album, getting decent reviews, the lads are gigging again soon. Its great. Better than waiting 7 years for the next Oasis album.

What happens in 2 weeks time or so when everyone downloads it, then when its released properly there might be more comments of 'theyre multi millionaires, i'm not forking out 8 quid for the album....' etc. Be a huge shame if the album doesnt get to #1

Personally I dont care but yeah i'd agree that for the Band the Album getting to No.1 is more important than singles.
