not to LOVE BTL other than the fact that you wanted BDI to be Oasis 2.0.
Just thought I'd throw it out there since everyone seems to be falling back on that type of lazy thinking. You all are fricking maddening. This with us of against us attitude is absurd.
For the record I like it, don't love it, but like it. I am glad they are doing something different...but I am also glad that Lillywhite has said that the rest of the album is much different from BTL. And that doesn't mean I hope the rest is just like Oasis...

I think I dislike it because it is just more of the same. It reminds me of the same sub-par music that had been creeping into Oasis' catalog

I think the losers on here that don't like it may come around when they here it on the album, with different songs between it - so far it's stand alone so there's nothing to help it in that respect!

I'd love every song to be different! Lillywhites comments are welcome news to me. Its a good start with BTL, looking for some variation. I'd rather not one song sounded like Oasis tbf.

I think I dislike it because it is just more of the same. It reminds me of the same sub-par music that had been creeping into Oasis' catalog It's nothing like Oasis - nothing! Name one song that it's similar to! Elementary Piano Riff + repetitive drumming + basic guitar solo + hook played through several times + the song going on for a minute more than it should = Oasis since Heathen Chemistry. Just throw in Liam saying the word song and it's all there.

Well nothing about the song is like Jerry Lee Lewis. Just because it has a somewhat strided piano loop? Aside from that everything Lewis did was based around a walking bass and chording. This song is Oasis even down to the ripped Beatles guitar solo.

You have to take the song for what it is, yes the instrument is a piano - but it's played totally different to anything from Oasis.

Name one song that it's similar to! I kinda liken it to a mix between Pass Me Down The Wine and I Believe In All. Not exactly, of course. And don't get me wrong, I give the song value for what it is, and it does sound different from the usual, from my point of view. I know there's many reasons to like or not like the song, but I prefer to feel the song, not reason it. And I like what I feel when I listen to Bring The Light. ;D

I don't think it's a pound for pound Oasis song, but it is too similar. I always thought from the beginning of the project that they should really try to go in a much different direction and I don't think laying a retro piano riff over there same style of writing is what it will take. Word is the rest of the album is much different from this, and I hope that's true. I think releasing this as the first single is too safe of a move.

I would still say that lyrical style and musicianship is still trending to where Oasis was going.

I think I dislike it because it is just more of the same. It reminds me of the same sub-par music that had been creeping into Oasis' catalog It's nothing like Oasis - nothing! Name one song that it's similar to! Well the frantic pace reminds me of Mucky Fingers and the rock piano reminds me of the klive versions of many songs. The overall subpar-ness of it reminds me of Little James and the lyrics which make up 50% of a song and are simply repeated has been done in many Oasis songs.

$5 says Liam wrote it and insisted on it being the first single. I'm looking forward to Gem and Andy written tunes since they've been pretty damn good the last few oasis albums/singles.

Good idea for a thread. Was getting old seeing people constantly use the excuse that we all want Oasis v2.0. I just want good music...don't care who it sounds like.

A song is either good or it's not. The songs that may proceed or precede it are irrelevant. This song is atrocious. You could put it in the middle of 'Revolver' for all I care, it would still be equally atrocious.

Does anyone on here listen to Oasis exclusively? Seriously!?!? i dig the new tune mostly because it doesn't fuck up the flow on my iPod. It fits in with everything else I have on there. It is different but not outlandishly different.
I commend the fellas for trying to move in a different direction. But lets e honest. . .they are damned if they do, or damned if they don't. They would get slagged off by half the world anyhow. It's all good. I personally can't wait for the future releases, because at least I know it won't be corporately written bullstool!
Cheers!
