Have they disappeared of the face of the earth? Or have i missed something?
2 great albums followed by some sizeable gigs and then a questionable 3rd album with a half arsed tour...
Any news?

They just finished their tour earlier this year, why should they be doing anything but relaxing right now? Humbug was a deliberate attempt to get out of the lights. Apparently they're working on some tunes but there's nothing concrete going on, judging by recent interviews.

They're good live, that's for sure. Really enjoyed the gig I went to last year, the night was epic.

Hopefully we never hear of them again. You should probably just forget about whether you hear the Arctic Monkeys again or not and concentrate on pretending to be a Newcastle fan

Humbug was a great album, I really loved it. Although I loved their first two albums too, it was very good of them to try something they've never done before.

I liked 3 or 4 tracks off humbug but the first 2 albums were pure class as were all the B-sides.

Was brilliant at the time and still is imo. I don't like the second one, was just more of the same. But Humbug made me be interested in them again. Love that album!

WPSIA was named like 5th best British album ever by NME and there's about 5 decent songs on the whole record. If that's not overrated I don't know what is.

Yeah Riot Van sucks. I mean other than that none of the songs are bad (although Fake Tales always annoyed me) but the majority are pretty forgettable.

Love their first two albums. Humbug is decent enough and they needed to change it up. I found them a bit disappointing live though. I was expecting to be blown away and i wasn't.
Arctic Monkeys are a great band to listen to time to time. They aren't like a band I that a adore (although i love the first two albums). Plus I still think the rifles are a far better band. Turner's lyrics are brilliant though.

They are hit and miss live. When i Saw them the first time they played Reading festival they were great but the other times their setlist was very strange and they almost played too slow.

I'm a big fan of the 2nd and 3rd albums, sometimes the punky first albums that bands release never get me hooked. I prefer a band to have a complex and well thought album and then go for it on the tour.
However there is always one exception to the rule..........Definitely Maybe. Having said that I think the tunes on that were the result of a lot of hard work. One thing I will say for an album is that you can usually tell how much effort has been put into the songs and the sessions.

Miles Kane said on some chat show November 27 that Al's working on "Monkey 4". I'm pretty sure we can derive his meaning from that.

I'd love to see Arctic Monkeys come up with something different again. I'm a big fan of Humbug. I prefer it to Favourite Worst Nightmare, which to me it sounds more of the same like Marcos said, just a bit more surreal and a bigger mix if that makes any sense. I still like it a lot though. Humbug's one of those albums that I listen to one track, then feel I have to listen to the whole thing, I think 10 tracks is a decent length for it. I always want the ending of The Jeweller's Hands to go on for ages! It starts to blend into a weird, whirling fairground-style mixture and then ends before you know it. WPSIA was named like 5th best British album ever by NME and there's about 5 decent songs on the whole record. If that's not overrated I don't know what is. "I don't like a particular band so that means they're overrated. My opinions are the undisputable truth and there's no such thing as subjectivity, for it is a myth that was dreamt up by dangerous free-thinkers to keep people from expressing themselves as individuals, for fear of being thought of as different." And that's not meant to be a personal attack, it's just why I can rarely be bothered with these kind of forums now. And I know nobody cares. It's just thread after thread of someone saying "This song is shit!" and then someone saying back to them "No, it's amazing, you're an idiot!", hardly anyone has the bollocks to agree to disagree.
