Like the tune and the lyrics, cut it down by a minute and take out 1000 Are you ready's and you've got a good tune.

It's a fucking tragedy, that's what. I couldn't agree more - the song is absolute rubbish. Ashcroft left The Verve for this drivvel? Hmm, "Columbo" versus "Are You Ready?". Score - 9/10 versus 2/10. Tragedy, plain and simple.

It doesn't even get better with time - worse actually. Sad.

It's a shame indeed that The Verve thing didnt last. I thought Forth was pretty good, with the exception of a couple of songs in the middle. Overall though it was better than Ashcroft solo stuff.
There was very little publicity about this Verve break up. When exactly did it happen? Anyone got any links to anything about it?

Forth was amazing. Album of the decade for me, and one of the best albums ever. Quite possibly my favourite album by The Verve. Blows Urban Hymns out of the water. Tenfold. Sit and Wonder, Rather Be, Love is Noise, Judas, Numbness, I See Houses, Noise Epic, Valium Skies, Columbo, Appalachian Springs... All winners. My least favourite is ISH, and it's still about twenty times better than the vast majority of Richard's solo songs. I still have hope they're not really broken up as much as just taking an extended break, but fuck... It's not for me, it's not for them, it's for music. Those guys can't be apart.
