Steely Dan - Aja
Steely Dan is one of those bands with an unfair reputation. "Your dad's favorite band" isn't necessarily an insult, but it sure comes off that way. My dad doesn't have the best taste when it comes to music or movies, and he's got a Steely Dan ringtone. Small things like that has kept me away from giving them a chance.
Then a while ago I saw a Youtube video titled "The weirdest intro of all time" or something like that. It was about their song Josie, which I suppose summarizes what the band is about. Complex musical ideas rooted in jazz, put into a smooth, catchy sound. I checked out the song afterwards and started to really like it, and decided to check out the rest of the album which it was from.
It took me a while, but I finally did a few days ago! I'm not in love with every single song, but they're all good, with countless memorable melodies and instrumental moments sprinkled throughout the entire album. I wasn't surprised to see that it features on several lists of the greatest albums of all time, and there is no reason why anyone shouldn't listen to it. If you've read this far, do it now!

I love Steely Dan and I have a best of cd of theirs some where which I bought years ago. Will listen to more of them for sure. One of my favourites by them is Hey 19 and I've always loved that song. I sometimes listen to them if I'm listening to some 70s music.

(What's The Story) Morning Glory? One of the nicest albums to listen to. Didn't even feel like 40 minutes went by. Brilliant album by a brilliant band.
