I expect this to be on partisan divide and since there's more liberals on this forum I expect Bush to be voted worse. However, I think for the most part fellow conservatives would consider this a good ranking, bar a tweak or so (regarding Clinton, perhaps) as good for the last few presidents 1. Reagan --- 2. Clinton 3. Bush Sr. 4. Bush Jr. --- 5. Carter No way in hell is Bush jr. the worst president ever. Hell, Carter was 1000x worse. And guess what, Obama is very close to being the next Carter if he continues on this track for the next 3 years or so. Carter is by far the worst president of modern times.

You seriously need to get a life mate. Such comments make me laugh due to their hypocritical nature. I need to "get a life" because I create such topics, but you don't because you read such topics yet refuse to contribute. Idiot. If you had a life you wouldn't have read it in the first place, going by your logic. Some of you are so stupid it's unbelievable. The last time I checked this is exactly what this forum, and this section more specifically, was made for. Get lost you first class prick.

First of all, I'd love to see you call me a prick to my face, I'd knock you into the middle of next week you little wanker. Secondly, 99% of all politicians are arseholes, and for a kid your age to be sitting making up polls about who was the better leader is very sad indeed. See that big wooden rectangular thing in the corner of your room? Thats called a door - I suggest you use it sometime.

Reagan was not a good president, he spent shit loads and rang up tons of debt. No new taxes, Bush the first fell on the axe of the Reagan years when really he saved the economy from falling apart.

all politicians are douches and yet I have a mild interest in politics. I'd say that Carter was our worst President ever. That's not to say that G W wasn't bad.
On another subject of Presidents is, what I really don't like about the public opinion is that everyone seems to hate on Nixon. The guy did quite a bit of good for our country in the day and I hate that people consider him to be awful cos Watergate.

I took a course on him from a Professor who was his speech writer! How cool is that! Very bias class, mind. Watergate, while wrong on so many levels still harshly impeded how history remembers him. However, he also fucked up Vietnam even worse with things like Cambodia and saying things like the war was unwinnable but he'll continue it anyway.... And he was paranoid, racist, and anti-semetic. Not the nicest man you'll ever meet. But detente with the Soviets? Opening with China? Some decent domestic policies? Not a great president by any means, but not as bad as people make him out to be.

Inflation, interest rates, and all the other economic problems in the Carter administration can't be blamed on him. That's fucking ridiculous. He inherited an enormous war debt at a time where the federal reserve board was absolutely out of control.
Although Reagan is generally viewed as very good, he did a lot which fucked us in the long run. His budget was extremely unbalanced, which caused prosperity for a short period of time but then fucked us in the ass in the Bush Sr. years.
Nixon was a terrible president, end of.

to be honest, carter was a shitty, shitty president when it came to foreign policy. however, he was never really given a fair shake because he was extremely unpopular as soon as he got in office. that was because he pardoned nixon.

that was because he pardoned nixon. Gerald Ford pardoned Nixon not Carter. you're absolutely right. my mistake. (+k for that) still, the 70s were filled with extreme cynicism, especially after watergate and vietnam. carter was a shitty president, but the economy's collapse should not be blamed on him. he was the wrong person at the wrong place and at the wrong time. meanwhile, president bush took our surplus budget economy to all-time lows. he brought us into an unnecessary war, which he lied to get us into. he authorized the use of illegal methods of interrogation ( torture). not just that, his response to the hurricanes in 2007 were beyond atrocious. they were criminal at best. it's quite sad to see l4e berate a guy who doesn't deserve the overdramatic negative attention. (he deserves some of it, mind you.) meanwhile, you try to vindicate easily the worst president of the past fifty years. it's purely political.

I really need to find that information that shows that bush didn't get a surplus when he took office... and talking about blowing up budgets, I think that in the light of Obama's first 7 months, it is safe to say that bush was a conservative a moderate spender

He was a real dick (no pun intended) and paranoid but was a solid enough president. And his life story is fascinating - how he worked so hard from an early age to become so successful. Oh, and the Alger Hiss case? Phenomenal work there by Nixon. But that is one of the most hateful and disrespectful paragraphs I have ever read and has turned me off from even considering reading the full article that you linked to.
