West Rider is mind blowing... DOYS is poor except for 4 songs... Soldier On pure shit compare to Happiness as closing track of an album.

I'm I the only one who hasn't listened to the album yet? I mean, I've heard the tracks that were performed live and a couple of the preview clips, but that's about it. But from what I've heard, it sounds very promising. It's definitely seems like a concept album, but there are some good sounding songs on there. Opposed from their last album, Empire, this one might actually be worth listening to all the way through.
BTW, is it just me or does the beginning of the acoustic versions of Underdog sound a lot like Oasis' Married With Children?

It's nothing special and not as good as the first album so lets not kid ourselves here. Fire and Underdog are great though.

If DOYS didn't have a shit ending, it would of been better.

New Kasabian absolutely blows. I didn't read any reviews, previews, comments, etc. I got a PM, spun it about 10 times over 4-5 days. And it is just not that good. There's is 1 great song. 3-4 good songs. The rest are just not very good at all, very forgettable.
If you want to try and compare it to DOYS, at least DOYS has really good flow overall for the entire album. And 7/11 songs are really, really good.

1 great song? ffs.
Underdog, fast fuse and where did all the love go? are at least great songs. I'm not comparing it to DOYS and i dont think its the greatest thing ever but i think it has some big tunes on it.

Thick As Thieves sounds very Kinks/Oasis. I thought that was the highlight.

Gotta say that Kasabian is a good band. I mean, a lot of people don't like Empire or whatever, but I say it's damn good!!!

This is low. I have liked Kasabian since their first album. But I always saw them as that kind of indie band thats just chugging away nicely, not making any disturbances or upsets.
Has Oasis quality dropped to an all new level? Or is Kasabians new album just god damn mind bogglingly amazing.

Has Oasis quality dropped to an all new level? Or is Kasabians new album just god damn mind bogglingly amazing. Maybe both mate. I tell you this - I've had more enjoyment from hearing "fire" on the radio 3 or 4 times in the last couple weeks that ive had from listening to all but two (The shock and the turning) of the DOYS tunes put together in the 8 months since it was released. Obviously I dont bother with it anymore, I think its in the recycling bin with my "She Is Love + 9 remixes of same" single. So for me, the rest of the Kasabian album could be that fucking keyboard cat looped for an hour and it'd still be better than DOYS.

Very forgettable record.... I listened to the album 5-6 times and got bored of it. Underdog, Fire, Secret Alphabets, Thick As Thieves are my fav from this album. But to compare those to Bag it Up, The Turning, Waiting for the Rapture, Shock of the Lightning, I'm Outta Time, Falling Down, and To Be Where There's Life is kind of ridiculous.

I agree w/ rmillis. I liked WRPLA at the first few listens but now it's just ok. I had a long drive today and for the first time in awhile I played DOYS from start to finish. Better album.
The problem w/ Oasis is EVERY time a new album comes out....if it's not DM or MG....it's not up to snuff. Those 2 albums are absolute classics that only bands like the Beatles or Stones can touch. They are over!
I like Kasabians debut better. Still decent record.

Liking Kasabian new stuff, but not that much. As a die hard DOYS fan, I think WRPLA is not that good. Anyway, Underdog is for me one of the highlights.

Reviews for this album have been shit, too. Not that we live and die by reviews, but just saying.... So were the reviews for DOYS. Same score for both from the NME, higher in Q for West Ryder, higher from the Guardian for DOYS. I'm willing to bet both will get around a 60% average.
