Speaking of modesty, Weezer's River Cuomo claims that the band's recent 'Troublemaker' tour felt like "the greatest show on earth." Hmm. If that sounds like something Liam Gallagher might say about his own circus, well, perhaps it is no coincidence. Cuomo tells Spinner that Weezer is, in fact, "planning the next leg of the tour to start up again in May of 2009 -- possibly with Oasis." Gee, we don't see any potential ego-clashes there.
"I've noticed over the past few Weezer tours that we just keep getting better and reaching new heights -- both the band, in terms of the power of their sound, but also me as a frontman and performer," Cuomo says.
Last fall, the Weezer rumor mill caused quite a stir when it was reported that the band had plans to record the follow-up to the 'Red Album' immediately after the conclusion of their fall tour, which wrapped up in November. Cuomo says the band did indeed record -- Christmas carols for an iPhone game. Next in line, Weezer plans to release a Spike Jonze video for 'The Greatest Man That Ever Lived' and stick with the color red for awhile.
"We have another tour coming up, like I said, with Oasis," Cuomo says. "Of course, we're always writing and recording and looking towards the next album as well."

Just got Rolling Stone rag, I mean mag well, yeah rag today, dated Jan 22. Couldn't find article online for link , but this is the relevant section.
Titled: Artists slash prices as recession rocks the concert business. Page 20.
Many bands are pairing up in cost effective packages, like Oasis and Weezer, both of whom saw empty seats in the fall. "it'll be less expensive for the fans and for the bands, because we can split the cost of carting around all the stuff it requires to put on a rock show" says Dan Field, Weezer's manager.
I guess we'll have to see how less expensive it is.

Dito that part of the fucked up economy/value price. I asked a friend of mine if shed heard anything about Oasis possibly playing Coachella this year. She said "no bc its too expensive this time around to do another US leg solo"...Fuck fine, so I guess we'll have to settle with a Dual band bill. This this mean, theres no "opening" act? or will they rotate on who opens? I saw the Brotherly Luv tour a few years back and I was too pleased with the fact (if my memory serves me correct) that both L.A. nights Oasis opened.

Rivers Cuomo is a pretentious ass.
The Gallaghers, though, are humble gentlemen!

The tickets are only a bargain if you like both bands. I hate Weezer. I can't be bothered to go to a gig where half of it is devoted to a band I don't like. I can't believe Noel or Liam would go for a double bill. Where's their arrogance when I need it?

Well, they did it in 2001 with The Black Crowes and certainly gave Jet a long leash in 2005....They could a lot worse than Weezer for a tour. If you're gonna pay a ticket for two bands, why leave early? Might as well see what it's all about. I'm not the biggest Weezer fan but I figure if the guys are willing to tour with them, there's gotta be something to 'em.

I like two songs from Weezer and that's it. BUT It's Oasis...as long as they're playing...I'm there.

Weezer is a fine band, and I'd liken the hating on them very similarly to Oasis...mostly by people who can't name more than 6 of their songs.
They've got a great couple dozen tunes.
you get what you get.

possibly Weezer could be one of the supports for the UK summer gigs.
People have said that Weezer arent a good match for Oasis in terms of being an opening act.
But it would make sense for Weezer to be part of the big summer gigs

Weezer is much popular (God forbid I say this) than Oasis in the US, I have to agree that it's a mismatch and it doesn't make sense. I'm starting to not like this match, it might not work so well. And the audience, imagine how that would look.

Maybe Weezer would open for Oasis, given their massive respect for them. I mean, I don't see Oasis covering Weezer songs

Oasis will never, ever open for Weezer. That list (who they would open for) is very, very slim and Weezer definitely isn't on it.
And I do not think it is fair to call someone pretenious when, after becoming a multi-platinum recording artist they go to college and sign up to live with a roommate picked at random. Not to mention how involved he is with his fans.

I personally like Weezer, but I have heard that Rivers is a bit of a jerk to people...and he does come off that way. He was really rude one time to a friend of mine who did nothing more than say hi and offer a handshake...and he just looked at him and walked away. Rude.

I think he's a bit mentally ill, didn't he sell all his worldly possessions and go all crazy...wasn't he the one that went to Harvard

Yeah, he went to Harvard. He's on the "eccentric" side of things, it's safe to say. You should watch his "Let's Write A Sawng" video series...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thYRy9MBY_c
Pure comedic bliss!

Hey, just found this in passing, too. For the novelty of it, here's that idiot girl who interviewed Oasis in '94 and made foolish jokes about them after the interview. Looks as if she's more of a Weezer fan. Jerk.
