I've heard that Liam may have vocal nodules. Where shit forms on his vocal chords from stress and strain over time and causes his voice to sound the way it does today. I remember reading that there is a surgery that could be done on this to remove the nodules and the voice will return to its normal self however there is the risk that the voice could go altogether.
I reckon if this is the case, Liam should risk it. He's on his way out...
Imagine hearing the old Liam....even for 30 seconds....I'd cream

The old Liam is gone, kaput, finished. Just accept it and enjoy what is there.
He is a poor singer now but still sounds decent on record and puts on a good show live.

I defy anyone to name me one singer who's voice got better with age. it's part of getting older. Liam sounds fine live. Not as good as he once was granted, but he still sings better than most 21 year olds.

Its not so much about the voice getting better but more so the voice not going haywire... to list a few: Bono Mick Jagger Noel The AC/DC geezer Morrissey Steve Tyler Madonna I bet my bottom dollar Robbie doesnt sound different Damon Albarn is better now than he used to be too.... Liam is letting the team down, dont get me wrong I love him on records but live....its going to be embarrassing hearing him blare out of the speakers in front of soo many people

Blur hasn't sung together in years while Liam does constant touring. Even thuogh, I've been saying for years that Noel has always had the better voice. Noel has much more range, emotion, and depth. Hear Noel singing Wonderwall. He does it much better than Liam. Liam has what you call the hit making voice. Noel can sing the songs better, but when Liam sings it the song is more likely to become a hit.

Wow, I just came on Fact & Fiction because I wanted to start a thread that went like this:
Subject: I hope Liam's voice goes out...
Message: Just one gig this tour so we get to hear Noel pick up and do all the songs himself. Would be interesting to hear him to To Be Where There's Life and Shock Of The Lightning, etc...

Was at a Morrissey concet when is voice went and he postponed the show last year. That wouldn't have happened in the Smiths days. Also, Steven Tyler's voice ain't as good as it was in the 70's.Did you hear him sing the National Anthem last year at the World Series? Excruciating. Madonna's voice sucks, don't know why you even mentioned her. Plus she lip syncs. Poor example. AC/DC guy just does that annoying screaming thing. Bono is good but not as good as he once was. Robbie Williams sings pussy songs, not songs that command volume and attitude. Liam's voice is fine for Oasis.

Singers who've voices have decreased massively:
Brian Johnson - Sounds worse than ever this tour, fucking shit. Roger Daltrey - Sounded awful through the last half of 2007, slightly better now, The Who fans are complaining bitterly. Jon Bon Jovi - Band plays every song half a step down, and dropped some of their biggest hits for whole tours Bob Dylan - The vocal equivelant to sandpaper. Speaks the lyrics to his songs, weirdly going up high every other word. Ian Brown - Always been shit live but around 2005 it was even worse, this year he's slightly better, though Robert Plant - The Led Zep songs he plays live are radically rearranged to suit his voice. When they reunited nearly all the songs were tuned down. David Bowie - Check out his DVD of his 2003 tour. His voice has gone to shit. He completely changes the vocal melodies of songs like Life On Mars and Changes so that he could hit the notes.
Liam's not the only one to have troubles with his vocals. I'm not saying that he's good, in some shows he's been terrible (though never as bad as 2004/05/06). He probably does have nodules, anyway.
Also - Liam sings with shitloads more emotion than Noel. Not saying Noel's not emotional, but Liam means it maaaaaaaaaaaaan.

Roger Daltrey? Are you serious?!!!! His voice sounds nothing like it did in the hey-day of The Who. Liam's in his mid-30's now. You can't expect him to sound like he did when he was 20.

Vocal nodules are pretty serious for a singer - the geezer from The Subways had an operation on them and no one knew if he'd ever sing again for about 6 months, then he recovered. Imagine Liam without being able to sing live, he'd probably commit suicide.
Anyway, Liam had been touring almost constantly for 20 odd years. Yes okay, so has Mick Jagger, but Mick doesn't sing in the same strenous way that Liam does (or used to) - bent neck, screaming into the mic. I've always maintained that Liam's voice hasn't lost a spot of its quality, its just lost a lot of its power and projection. If you listen to Liam singing acoustically recently, he sounds as good as ever, it's just when he is forced to scream and shout over the electric guitars that his voice begins to give out and he starts to struggle
