I love the solo
the LIVE solo is obviously compensting for the trillion guitars on BHN record..at first i didnt like it..but it is pretty cool
MAGIC PIE..Oasis on top of the world
Magic Pie left the Oasis setlist with the phone box on stage..a crying shame. Noel G should bring it back for an acoustic tour in the future

I love it ,,,i like the fact that it's clearly over blown with loads of guitars and really long.
Also under all the over the top production it has some very good chord changes (IMO) Dm-Am-F-G etc is a really nice chord sequence

Actually, Noel Gallagher was asked what song he would want to be remembered for when he died and he said Magic Pie. I know I saw it in an interview somewhere. I think he said it before BHN came out which could have just been promotion.

You know, it's absolutely well written. A bit overproduced, but not as bad as the rest of BHN. And as Mad4it said it's got a really nice chord structrue

i feel as though if the song was re-mastered it could get an even greater epic sound..with heightened strings..more presence of melletron..sometimes it lacks that punch for me becoming slighly droney
i vote for a sardy re-mix..not nesseerily stripping it back completely..but making the production better
even though it is my favourite (personel) oasis song

Love the lyrical addition of "still getting high" in the acoustic version from French radio.

I think Forest and Notorious have the song's meaning down pat.
It's a fucking great song, but the acoustic version is better.

It's a really good song, for the first two or so minutes. And then the chorus kicks in and gets a bit worse and then it loiters around until it's finally dragged off the property.

I've always thought Magic Pie, the beginning anyway, talked about John Lennon. I know it's not but...
"an extra ordinary guy can never live an ordinary day" ~alotta people think of John as more than just a normal person...
"he might live a long good bye" ~he dies 25 years ago, but people still are saying goodbye.

I HATE it!! Can't listen to it. Just like the rest of the album it's tooo long and the production is just awful. Personally can't stand Noel's vocals on it. Would rather Stay Young was on in it's place. I would so take that anyday. The ending doesn't help either as it is soo out of place. Just think it's one of the worst they have EVER done!
Also, just want to chuck in, I have Earls Court from 97 on CD and Noel does Magic Pie on there (of course) and there is no crowd reaction when he finishes it (cue Noel asking if anyone is going to cheer at the end of it)

Well there more certainly is a crowd reaction on the youtube video.. I actually like it, but only since a few months. Watching the live version made me love it. The solo with the "aaah" backings is brilliant imho... But I'm one of the few people who likes BHN as much as WTSMG & DM so....

"an extra ordinary guy can never live an ordinary day" ~alotta people think of John as more than just a normal person... Actually, the first lines are about Liam, at least according to Noel (from Q, September 1997): " I sang this one (Magic Pie). Of course, me and Liam had a row about it. 'Why can't I sing that?' 'OK, I'll do Fade In/Out then.' 'No, you won't.' But it's his favourite track now. The first lines, 'An extraordinary guy/Can never have an ordinary day', comes from him asking me, 'How come you never get into any of the situations I get into?'"

down to 5 1/2 minutes, with reverb and less treble...slightly sped-up and much more immediate and enjoyable.....

The song's good. Nothing special, but the sound isn't that bad and it has a rather catchy melody.

I just really like how it builds as the chorus hits, and then explodes with the solo. The track makes me happy, has a nice uplifting vibe to it. Catchy little number, too.

It is one of my favorite Oasis tunes, and I believe that the first line in the song is marvelous.
To me, its an essential Oasis tracks. If a Be Here Now Naked or a demo version were ever to come out, this song would definitely be one of the highlights.

From all the songs of BHN, MP is the one which suffers more for being too long, it becomes boring very quickly, 7 minutes of bullshit and bad production, maybe if it was 4 or 5 minutes long it would be more whorty.
AATW and DYKWIM are also too long but at least both are very interesting, AATW has a nice melody and DYKWIM is very badass.

MP is both one of my favorite ones and the most hated ones. It has a nice structure with good melodies, but it completely breaks the flow of the album and is partly responsible for BHN being less successful. It should have been chopped down to around 4~5 mins and put on SOTSOG. The song's overall mood fits better there.

One of Noel's finest lyrics

The lyrics and the music(for atelast 2 minutes) were alright but then the overblown guitars of BHN toke the song down(i wouldnt mind if noel had the habilities of Squire but he dosnt). And then the salsa bit at the end...
