Had the potential to be in the oasis top 10
hear me out..
if the lavish 7.19 was stripped back..but i do enjoy the magical trip of the 7 mins
if some of the lyrics- most say on here the chorus ( which i dont have a problem with)
if the song didnt explode unnescerily after "his mind..ye his mind" after the inital an extra ordinary guy...
But it exploded (without 20 guitars) maybe on the first "Il; have my way"
I do love this song..and i know this is all opinion but seeing as this song has never been played since hwen, 10 december cardiff 1997? or soemthing i thought id give it a shout out
as a lyrical gem a trippy orchaestation, mellotron, epic sounding Nice vocal could go on for 10 mins for me lol " Ive got my magic Pieeee"
They who dont say what they mean live and die by their own sword
My favourite Oasis song ever.
Keen for a remix of this song..stripped back a bit..by sardy or something. I also feel that the guitar interlude 'lacks' something sometimes..the vocal harmornies are great but i think needed to be louder..i think a few more instruments in it would of been good too
instead of a simple..picking guitar line that was high in the mix..where as when Noel played it live ( accomodating for 10000 guitar tracks) he played a different- to my ears solo.
who feels that this song is great? that it was buried in a mesh of guitar overdrive and underneath it..maybe as the acoustic version showed
it was a masterpeice
crazily addictive chorus..scratching my head 'what' a Magic Pie was..until i figured that maybe It wasnt..just a metaphor for Money..drugs or success
whatever your interpretation..maybe you think this song is Gay..too long..nothing special
I think magic Pie is wonderful. respect Noel G.
I know ill never see this song again live...i mean I hope maybe acoustically Noel and Gem but Noel doesnt even like it right?

It's a good song, in a BHN kind of way. But I think I prefer Flashbax, because of the chorus and the fact that it doesn't go on and on and on and on.

I really don't like the salsa music or whatever that is at the end. Otherwise Magic Pie is great.

The intro is superb. It goes on a bit too long but its still a pretty good track. The acoustic version is haunting. It really shows you how the song did have a strong core to it.

Even by BHN's lower than low standards, this song is terrible! just drones and drones and drones on and on and on and on and on and on.

Good song, but way too long. My only qualm about it.
Complete aside - is a magic pie British slang for special brownies?

Good song, but way too long. My only qualm about it. Complete aside - is a magic pie British slang for special brownies? It isn't really slang for anything over here. It's a bit like Champagne Supernova and Wonderwall - they don't actually mean anything but sounded good at the time I quite like Magic Pie. I think with Be Here Now in general you just have to take it for what it is. Yes it's too long and overblown, but if you stripped it down it wouldn't have the same impact. Magic Pie is by no means perfect, but if you stripped it down then what do you take out? I think the first three albums were perfect for their era and should be left as they are.

I actually really dig this song.
And while I don't think it was intentional (but who knows), I take "Magic Pie" to be the opposite of Humble Pie. You "eat humble pie" in disappointing circumstances. However, this song is about claiming victory eventually - so he'll get his magic pie instead of humble pie. If it's understood in this context, it's not bad at all.
It does drag too long though, and that's my only complaint. The guitar solo is huge, and I love how it builds and builds - that's something Oasis does best.
Why this song is hated so much is beyond me.
"They who don't say what they mean, will and die by their on sword" - And that's brilliance right there.

The guitar solo from 4.20 to 5.15 is monumental

Yeah mate.... solo is fucking great. However, the end is overblown. WTF is that? It's like the end of It's Good To Be Free except even more annoying.
BUt as I've said, best non-single track from the album!

in a way MAGIC PIE to me is Noel going on about his success..saying theyve made it..were gonna play an epic song about it and your gonna dig it so in a way it it about money, drugs and the monumental success..to me.
its got my fvourite Oasis lyric
THEY WHO DONT SAY WHAT THEY MEAN/LIVE AND DIE BY THEIR OWN SWORD
the verse/chorus relation is not apparent..loads of good lyrics but does Magic Pie mean anything? probably not its just a great song..
caught in the landslide of the media backlash for attmepting to be the CS of 1997
