Oasis was 5th in album sales in canada. That's horrid. They did a mini tour and they still got outsold by metallica and their album has been out for a month. That's fuckin bad. I will say this, until oasis puts out a radio friendly first single they will continue 2 get left in the dark. Oasis deserves way more credit then they get but it is also their own fault for flat out not giving a fuck. And that's why we luv em. Cheers

The music business is a sham. But that being said, I have never seen a fan base that cares so much about sales/chart positions. Who gives a shit other than the band and label? I bought the new album and love it. That is all that matters to me.

Greater popularity in North America would be a double edged sword. On one hand, you'd end up with more peers who liked Oasis so you could go to the concerts together and talk about them without having to hang around on your computer. On the other hand, it would be less of a personal experience because they're not *your* band anymore, and there would probably be some people you didn't like getting into them. I'd like them to be a little more popular, but it all evens out. In the end, the universe unfolds as it should.

Ya you shouldn't care aobut the charts, but a true fan roots for his band to do well and one of the ways that a band does well is not just with the fans at some point it has to come down to the charts. How well a band does well on the charts helps them keep releasing stuff. If Wonderwall hadn't been #8 in America do you think Oasis would have made enough money to keep themselves going on their own record label, do you think someone would have signed them without that colassal hit and be willing ot put up iwth them, the answer is probably no. In the end how well a band does on the charts keeps them out there so they can keep releasing stuff to a large audience insteed of being some buried band in a bar on the out reaches of a town and some drunk coming up to them asking why they never became famous or released any stuff.

They'll never be big in North America, end of.The only songs people know over here are wonderwall and supernova. As long as they keep putting out music that's all that matters. We get them but most don't,they're just seen as cocky bastards....which they are!!

Quick question about the Canadian charts... For the people who order the Deluxe Box Set from the US/Canada store... Since it is (or was) being shipped from the US, does this sale count towards the US charts? Is so, this may have screwed Oasis from hitting a higher position in Canada

They've been releasing "radio friendly" tracks for years. It's time to show they're great musicians. They should have released The Turning or Bag It Up instead.

I agree with that last point. Oasis singles are radio friendly, it's just Music Directors, MTV, Promoters etc have their favorites and stick with em. If Oasis played the game like U2 and Coldplay back in MG days they'd be a monster act. They were kind of pushed aside after tour cancelations, interviews like TRL (which I loved) etc.
I don't look at Human by The Killers as radio friendly or even remotely good. But that's getting mad airplay because they are a sweetheart of the US Music Media.
Oasis don't need record sales. They out sell most bands in the top 40 in attendance figures. And world wide sales of 50 million is way more impressive than good U.S. Sales. which all most bands here get.

Everyone here who's older than about 17 knows who they are and can sing some of their most popular tunes. I like to think that one day they will make a comeback, but trust me. It's completely insignificant. They are making records that enough people are buying so that Oasis can come here to tour. They still sell out (Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto June 2005 sold out in 45 minutes with a capacity of 16 000)
