I think it should have been the first single. TSOTL doesn't even sound like a single to me. Not that Bag It Up does so much, but it has balls. Thoughts?

I like TSOTL ok. At least Bag It Up should be in the set list. I hope it is by the time they hit the States.

TSOTL is a grower. I think it was a good choice. I think, if there will be a 4th single, "The Turning" should have the slot.

I think The Turning who have made a perfect lead single, it's a bit catchier than Bag It Up

TSOTL isn't a bad choice at all for a first single. But I do think The Turning would have been a more interesting way to 'come back'. Either way, it's a good choice . . .

think about it like this...........
lead single - must be a rocker.
out of the rockers TSOTL is the only one that has some sort of commercialism value (obvisously not enough as it didnt make number 1 but that is irrelevent, it is released to promote the album, not make number 1)
doys does not have a lyla, THT, GLIO, DYKWIM or some might say so the next best thing was TSOTL imo.
bag it up is a great song but would have done no better than number 3, imo worse. but it it a better song than totl imo. if you get wot i mean.
but at the end of the day i'm proud that i am one in a few of us that appreciate oasis' finest work, that were not singles, slide away, gas panic, rocking chair, roll it over, idlers dream etc
the choice of single means neesh at the end of the day
im actually dissapointed im outta time is going to be released actually, cos i would like it to become one of the above mentioned songs.

I really don't think a change of singles would have made any difference in terms of sales . I love TSOTL and The turning and Bag it Up, but they're hardly songs with massive crossover appeal. They are songs that appeal to oasis fans.

the turning is one of my favourite oasis tunes of all time but i really think that the arrangement and production could be fixed. a few raw guitar overdubs and more of that chorus and we would have ourselves a true fucking belter.

Watch the video of The Shock from the private show they did before Canada and tell me it's not an epic song. Go ahead.

TSOTL is going to be a song played to the general US public on the radio/jukebox for a while - that's why it was the lead single...
