I don't know what to say. I bought the DOYS deluxe package and the more I listen to it, the more I dislike it. It just seems like Noel has stopped giving a crap and the Oasis magic is gone. They've become a bad imitation of their old self. I can just imagine Noel and the band sitting down and saying "ok, lets make an album that sounds like The Beatles Revolver." I mean borrowing from other bands is ok, but when your songs sound like 3rd rate Beatles songs, it's time to throw in the towel.
Just listen to the first 3 albums. They may borrow, but the music sounds original and fresh. This album has no guitar solos, Liam and Gem might as well join a Beatles cover band, and Noel doesn't even care anymore. I'm extremely disappointed and this is the last time I'm gonna get my hopes up for a new Oasis cd. Noel has become a lazy rock star. He just makes an album every 3 years so he can make millions touring. It's a crime that Liam is allowed to write songs for Oasis. He's horrible.
Anyone else feel like Oasis has lost it?

DBBT was dull - but to me, DOYS is a great leap forward. I dont think its fair to say Noel has lost the magic. I think its refreshing that they try a different approach, even though they do sound like the beatles from time to time.

First off there are good and not so good tracks on the album BIU,TT,WFTR = belters!! TBWTL,HHL = Poor by their standards (in my opinion obviously) but Davemason72 has a point....Oasis dont hit the height they did in there early days. They Do sometimes sound like a Beatles tribute band - ( I'm Outta Time - Pass me Down The Wine etc) and whilst i love the Beatles i think that OASIS should be better than that. I compare it too boxers - there hungry at the beginning but after they've been everywhere, Done everything, snorted the Lot etc they DO become lazy - Fact (Noel openly admits he enjoys nothing more than sitting on his AR*E!). Dont get me wrong I still think they have it - but it does get on my nerves when NG plays the lazy rock star - after all it is your money in a round about sort of way they are raking in! and its just a little disapointing when you know the potential IS still there....

Its a great album till about, oh say song 7. Afterwards the quality drops dramatically. However I do agree that Noel is a lazy bastard. Something which he has admitted on more than one occasion. Yes Liam got married. SO? Delay the album for a month. Dont shove Aint Got Nothing on as a replacement. Liam is a good songwriter. Fact is he cant write decent rockers. Neither can Chris Martin, not a problem. DBTT would have been great if Noel had put all his songs on the album. Have you heard those demoes? FUCKING AMAZING. Just think of all the Noel songs we didnt hear fro,m those sessions.

No I think it's a great album. The thing is if we start comparing everything they release to DM and WTSMG we are only gonna be disapointed. Noel May not have written an album with 10 or so great since BHN but he still is a great song writter. On every album he still writes a few belters. But I think this album is a great step forward, considering what we've had since BHN. IMO there are songs on this album which are good enough to have been on WTSMG or DM and are up there with some of their best song. If anything to me this album shows that Noel is getting his mojo back.

DBTT was good, but nothing better than Good. A bit dull at times, But DOYS is far from "Dull". Its arguably their best album since Morning Glory

My first impressions were that it was very dull. I then listened to the songs individually though and it changed my perception of it. I think the track listing is to blame. I think it's fair to say Ain't Got Nothing, Nature of Reality and To Be Where There's Life are the three poorest songs on the album, so having them all together spoils it.
I don't think it's dull, it just seems that way because the last four tracks are, so that is still etched in your mind when you've finished listening. Imo the filler songs on DBTT - Love Like a Bomb, Guess God Thinks I'm Abel, A Bell Will Ring, etc - were unbelievably dull, but they were spaced out better.

DOYS is actually really good and I was quite surprised by it. So I disagree with you there.
But I do agree with you about Liam. He should have one song on an album at the very most. Yea, he contributed a good song with IOT. But he also contributed the two weakest with AGN and SO. SO is an ok song but they should have picked a better closer. And it does kind of ruin it because only a song separates the two.
Noel needs to stop worrying about Liam's feelings. Accept his one good song that he offers each album and tell him no. He won't leave the band . . .

Obviously as a band matures, the sound will mature... I mean, you can't make the same stuff all the time. I write my own music, but there's tonnes of times that I try to "match" it to one of my influences. We can't stay stuck in 1994, right? As much as I would love to keep reliving the Definitely Maybe days, and the WTSMG days, it's unrealistic. Personally, I have found something to like in all of their albums since. I enjoyed DBTT, but I think DOYS has really stepped it up a notch. If everything sounded the same from album to album, they would sound like Nickelback. I haven't got the sweetest clue what they have released because it's all the same...

I like how you exclude Heathen Chemistry. 10 times duller than the last 2 albums.
